The grades are not norm-referenced (graded on a curve). Criterion referencing is the methodology used by CFP Board of Standards on the National Examination. Class Format Class sessions will generally consist of lecture, group discussion, case analysis, brief student presentations, and other techniques designed to reinforce important concepts. s are expected to read the assigned homework completely before each class. The FPDC contains high emphasis on the completion of a written comprehensive financial plan and its oral presentation. Refer to the separate Rubrics for the assessment methodology for student grading. Occasionally students will need to perform research using various Web sites in order to augment the text material, clarify misconceptions, and update information based on tax law changes. Each student will also present his/her case orally to the entire class, either in person or online, depending on logistics. Class members will have time to pose questions, make comments, and provide constructive critique after each presentation. Grading for the course is based on the Assessment Rubrics distributed at the beginning of the course.

5 Elluminate Instructions In the Fall 2012 term, we will use a Web based tool known as Elluminate. We facilitate additional learning through Elluminate via Moodle. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of Elluminate and Moodle early in the term, as assignments are due. In the event that the instructor cannot conduct a live class as usual, due to travel or weather, for example, you will be notified. Virtual classes will be conducted in those cases, through Elluminate. We will also use Elluminate in a variety of additional learning experiences, including recorded student presentations of case study segments.
