In their 2013 Mobile Enterprise Report, MobileIron found that IT departments are concerned about rising mobility costs and feeling frustration and loss of control over BYOD. The top two sources of frustration onboarding and supporting the increasing number and variety of personal devices were found to outrank even security concerns. While many organizations adopt a BYOD strategy with the expectation of saving money, the Aberdeen Group found that costs actually increase due to loss of volume discount rates and higher setup, expense report processing, and other support costs. Gartner predicts BYOD will become the top technology trend for 2013, while Nucleus Research predicts that BYOD peaked in 2012 and is on the decline.
