It is marked II 3G X, which represents Equipment Group II, category 3G, and a maximum surface temperature rating X. Group II equipment has been designed for places with a potentially explosive atmosphere, other than mines susceptible to firedamp. Category 3G equipment has been designed to be capable of functioning in conformity with the operational parameters established by the manufacturer and ensuring a normal level of protection. Equipment in this category is intended for use in areas in which explosive atmospheres caused by mixtures of air and gasses, vapours or mists or by air/dusts are unlikely to occur or, if they do occur, are likely to do so only infrequently and for a short period only. he temperature class marking of X on the valve indicates that the actual maximum surface temperature of the valve depends not on the equipment itself, but mainly on operating conditions (heated fluid). he specification of the operating conditions are given on the front page. It occurs as the valve is moved between positions. During this time a small flow from ports, and to port is possible, which can cause the pressure of lines, or to drop slightly. Note that interflow will not occur when the valve is fully seated in either the centre, left or right positions. he magnitude of interflow is highly dependent upon the valve s operating conditions and speed of actuation hence it is difficult to predict. If no pressure drop during actuation is permissible then a non-interflow valve should be selected.
