Gleichzeitig entwickelt das Projekt Empfehlungen für den Einsatz von computer-unterstütztem Unterreicht bei Schulungen nach der Direktive 2003/59/EC. Multimedia-based training is an integral part of today s education and training that is widely used in different kinds of educational setting. Simulator and computer based training is also a state-of-the-art element of (professional) driver training all over the world in order to improved road safety by preparing drivers for different kind of traffic situations. But also topics such as eco-driving or load security are regularly addressed with such multimedia-based training elements. This project therefore intends to explore opportunities, limitations and requirements to enhance professional driver training in the framework of but also beyond directive 2003/59/EC with the means of driving simulators and computer based training. This includes the identification of thematic elements that can benefit from the integration of such multimediabased tools, the development of instructionally designed sample training elements, the exploration of competence requirements on trainers in such settings incl. the development of a web based training course for such trainers and the establishment of a network that brings different groups of key players in this field together. It is the overall aim of this project to explore opportunities, limitations and requirements to enhance professional driver training in the framework of and beyond directive 2003/59/EC1 with the means of driving simulators and computer based training. In order to reach this aim the project intends to - explore and systemise existing research results on driving simulator and CBT use in (professional) driver training, - explore the application of simulators and CBT in professional driver training related to directive 2003/59/EC but also beyond this framework in the countries represented in the consortium and identify examples that can be considered as good practice in this field, - identify elements of the professional driver training that can benefit from the use of driving simulators in order to facilitate the participants learning and the transfer of learning results into praxis, 2

3 Projektinformation - develop, test and evaluate computer and simulator based training elements for professional driver training, - explore and define competence requirements on trainers facilitating computer and simulator based training, - develop recommendations for the use of computer and simulator based training in the implementation of training related to directive 2003/59/EC and - establish a sound basis for and stimulate a continuous dialogue among developers of computer and simulator based training, trainers/facilitators working with such technology and other stakeholders involved on the use of computer and simulator based training in profession driver training. 27 Veranstaltungen TECHNOLOGY-SUPPORTED VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS IN EUROPE A MATTER OF QUALITY Datum Beschreibung Vocational education and training has been assigned with the challenging task to prepare all professional drivers in Europe for continuously changing job requirements and to keep them qualified for their job. Technology-supported training offers additional opportunities in order to reach this goal and to achieve the high quality of training necessary in order to ensure drivers employability and to make a contribution to safety on European roads. The ICT-DRV conference provides an inside view into the current situation of computer-based distance learning and simulator-based professional driver qualification and discusses a number of questions related to a high-quality and learning oriented integration of such training approaches into professional driver training praxis in Europe. How is technology-supported training realised in different EU Member States? What experiences are made with such training approaches? How is it integrated into the realisation of EC Directive 2003/59? How can professional driver training benefit from the application of technology-based training tools? How is an added value reached? What means quality in the context of such technology-supported training approaches? How can high quality be reached and ensured in order to meet the needs and aims of learners, employers and public authorities? What is needed from the different players involved into the realisation of professional driver training in order to make effective use of the opportunities opened up by technology-based training and to overcome obstacles and challenges? How is it possible to remove the scepticism surrounding learning technology? This interdisciplinary conference aims to provide a platform for VET providers, public bodies, researchers, developers of simulators and e-learning, social partners, employers, and other groups of stakeholders in order to explore and discuss opportunities, limitations and requirements to enhance professional drivers vocational education and training effectively with high-quality computer-based distance learning and simulator-based training. A special focus is placed on the expedient integration of such training approaches into the framework of Directive 2003/59/EC.
