7 SBA Requirements (1) The SBA comprises two tasks: (a) one task on mathematical investigation or problemsolving (b) one task on data handling Students will be required to complete one task in S5 and the other in S6 7

8 SBA Requirements (2) The full mark of each SBA task should be scaled to 20 marks. The total mark of the two SBA tasks is 40 marks. Marks submitted to HKEAA will be converted to 15%. 8

9 Guidance in Assessment Process It is desirable that all students in a school be assessed on the same task. Apart from group activities such as collecting statistical data, the assessment task is expected to be conducted in class and students should complete the task individually. 9

10 Setting Assessment Tasks Teachers may refer to the Sample Assessment Tasks prepared by the HKEAA and EDB for reference. If students in a school are assessed on different tasks, care should be taken that the task chosen for assessment should be of similar nature and complexity that call for similar skills. 10

11 Guidance from Teachers Teachers can provide background information of the task. It is appropriate for students to ask questions and for teachers to offer general advice at the initial stage. However, teachers should not give specific guidance or detailed advice. 11

12 Within-school Standardisation (1) If more than one teacher is involved in the SBA for the same examination year, it is important that the criteria for the award of marks are agreed in advance. Conduct meetings among teachers to align the marking criteria. 12

13 Within-school Standardisation (2) Conduct trial marking of samples of students work. Use reference material and archive material (such as students marked work from previous years). Adjust marks of some teachers, if necessary. 13
