2 ICT Volume Interior Design for Videoconference Spaces Page 2 1 Colour Palettes Summary of minimum requirements (as per ICT Volume 2.3 section 11.3): NO Red NO Black NO White NO dark coloured table tops NO high gloss or reflective surfaces NO Venetian blinds (neither vertical, horizontal nor micro) NO fine-line or grid patterns (nor course-weave in fabrics) The following standard colour palettes, designed for longevity, shall apply. These include, for walls and drapes, a range of: soft Blues soft Greens soft Mauves soft Greys soft Earthy shades plus dark colours suitable for surrounding images as described below. While based on the Deakin Worldly colour scheme, these timeless palettes are designed to last beyond the Worldly campaign. 1.1 Colour palette for rear wall and side walls, including drapes The wall that camera/s is/are facing toward and the side walls shall be painted (and/or draped) using colours based on the palette given below. Lighter colours based on the standard corporate colour palette are to be used. However these colours are to be diluted (mixed with white: typically around 1~3 parts white to 1 part colour) so as to reduce saturation and increase reflectance to at least about 60% (preferred reflectance range 60%~75%). For contrast and interest, the side and rear walls may be painted using different colour selections drawn from this palette. Or by using different tint levels of the one colour: preferred dilution range 2:1 to 3:1; maximum dilution range 4:1 (i.e. r = 57% to r = 78% reflectance). Lighter colours in the range can also be used to lift dark corners, and darker colours can be used to compensate for a brightly illuminated wall. Colour range as set out below. The palette includes blues, greens, mauves, greys and earthy shades (i.e. all the colour groups recommended by camera design guides) so the architect has maximum flexibility to deliver a comfortable normal meeting room environment that also fits with the style of the surrounding building.

5 ICT Volume Interior Design for Videoconference Spaces Page Colour palette for wall behind LCD panel, including drapes Dark colours can produce both a restful background and a stylish contrast to the bright LCD image. A dark background also tends to de-emphasize the black frame of the LCD panel, which then blends into the background, rather than standing out and drawing your attention to the frame and hence reminding you that the people in the image are not real (refers telepresence objective). Darker colours drawn directly from the standard corporate colour palette are to be used: Dulux P32F6 Decore Splash Dulux P26F9 Caterpillar Green Dulux P45C8 Purple People Eater Dulux P48H9 Velvet Rose Matt paint to be used for wall area behind LCD panels. 1.3 Colour palette for presentation surfaces video projection ZERO-GLOSS level matt White Ceiling White product details as specified in the companion document 2.2 Audio Visual Technical Design Standards. 1.4 Colour palette for ceiling above Front-of-House To minimize re-reflection of light from the image back onto the presentation surface: Darkest colours drawn directly from the standard corporate colour palette are to be used: Dulux P46E9 Dulcet Violet Dulux P48H9 Velvet Rose ZERO-GLOSS level matt ceiling-type paint MUST be used on ceiling above front-of-house, so as to minimize image reflections into the audience.

Decal gloss level: Zero (matt finish). Decal colours: White, as shown above.
