8 Canadian Network for Public Health Intelligence (CNPHI) Web-based, real-time syndromic surveillance, intelligence exchange and response tool for critical public health events Initial demonstration supported by DRDC CSS programs Now fully operational at Public Health Agency of Canada and used by 90% of Canadian public health authorities International and cross border links into the US and licensed to Mexico Possibility of a continental multi-hazard surveillance capability Based on this success CFIA has developed Canadian Animal Health Surveillance Network with our support 9

9 Med-Eng EOD 9A Helmet Supported by DRDC CSS funding, Allen-Vanguard partnered with the RCMP, DRDC Suffield, and the Royal Military College The 9A is the world s first Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) Class A Helmet Also protects technicians from blast, chemical and biological (CB) agents Extensive, full-scale blast and simulated CB agent testing, as well as performance and reliability tests The helmet is a component of the most widely used EOD suit in 120 countries. 10

10 Multi-Agency Situational Awareness System (MASAS) Based on Open Architecture and Open Standards Co-led by DRDC CSS with governments and industry OA Visualization/Decision Support System for Coast to Coast Emergency Management and into US via IPAWS Rapid deployment to over 200 Canadian responder agencies Linkage with US system identified in Beyond the Border Action Plan Multiple cross border exercises completed and planned 11

12 Great Lakes Surveillance Led and funded by DRDC with S&T, border enforcement and intelligence In support of several joint US CA commitments to cross border security and trade Study and report on fixed and mobile radar network performance on the Great Lakes and St-Lawrence Seaway for vehicle detection, border enforcement and interdiction Technology deployed during Toronto G8,

13 Emergency Responder Data Interoperability Communications Interoperability Research Test and Evaluation Centre (CIRTEC) and 700 MHz Test Bed Co-Investment in an Open Environment T&E Centre for assessment of the 700 MHz spectrum issues for broadband mobile data communications such as: policies, procedures, bandwidth management technology and trans-border interoperability during emergency situations for Police, Fire, EMS and other responders

14 Surveillance Network for Airports and Transit Facilities - Mobile Detect/Cubic 2004 Rad Watch Technology Demonstration leavebehind project with Industry, Government, Transport, Police and Ottawa Airport Authority 2006 Mobile Detect presentation at Security Network event in San Diego led to meeting with Cubic Security Systems and subsequent partnership on Edmonton Transit project (2008) 2012: Deliver Rad & Explosive Covert Security system to Edmonton Transit for trials 15
