In order to be eligible; The First Nations Community must: 1. Recruit for the fall work placement position in a fair, open and arm s length manner; 2. Be able to offer a First Nations student a twelve week work placement within the First Nations community (i.e. the school, the Band office) which has a focus on Information Communications Technology; 3. Be able to offer the fall student work placement appropriate supervision, mentorship and support during the placement; 4. Submit a completed copy of the Profile Information Form (PIF) for the successful student which provides proof of the youth s education status and age. 5. Assist the student in the completion of a Computing Fundamentals course (provided by FNESC), which will require 5-6 hours a week of student time. 6. Submit details of youth salary expenses and a final report including youth feedback.

Program Guidelines The SchoolNet Youth Program will provide First Nations Communities with the funding to employ two students for a period of twelve weeks over the fall and winter. We request two students so that there is a "buddy" to increase the capacity of the community. The program must commence no later than Oct 16 th and must be completed by January 31st We require proposal applications for this ICT fall work experience opportunity immediately. If your community is interested, please complete the attached form and return to the SchoolNet office by Monday, September The proposals will be reviewed by staff and/or members of the FNSA board and successful proponents will be advised immediately. Students will also be required to complete a Computer Basics course called "Internet and Computer Core" that will be an online course provided by FNESC. The students will likely need to attend twice weekly this online course and complete the homework. If they are well versed in computers, they can challenge the course through a benchmarking assessment that they will take prior to the course start date. The course will start the week of Oct 16 th and end January 31 st, As we are only able to support 24 communities there will be due consideration for fair regional representation. Eligible Costs The First Nations community can pay the student placement on a salary scale between $10 and $13 per hour for up to 40 hours per week. In addition, communities will be provided with an additional 20% per hour to be used to cover other costs such as Canadian Pension Plan and Employment insurance contributions. This 20% is for employment related costs only. Total Eligible Cost per student is $ % CPP/EI = $7488
