2 What is a CFDC? One of over 260 offices of its kind across Canada that provide business and community economic development support to rural and small urban centres across Canada, on behalf of the Federal Government. A network of independent non-profit organizations that focus on local priorities and regional impact Part of the CFDC Program that will soon be celebrating its 30 th year of operation with consistent funding by the Government of Canada

3 What is the CFDC really about? Supporting the communities of Middlesex County by providing: Free strategic planning advice and resources to the small businesses and non-profit agencies located in Middlesex County Term loans to private enterprise and non-profit organizations that create and retain jobs in Middlesex County Support, leadership and monetary investment in programs that support the community through economic investment Strategic planning with respect to the economic development of our region In a nutshell finding ways to promote, facilitate and encourage long-term investment and economic prosperity in the communities we serve.

A staff of caring local individuals who have a passion for supporting local investment and seeing the communities in Middlesex County grow and prosper A 10 member board of directors; each who volunteer to see government dollars and effort properly channeled into the communities in which they work and call home Stakeholders including local municipalities, non-profit community based agencies, business support organizations, and most importantly, the clients we serve who live and invest in the prosperity of our county A rural based community non-profit organization with over 13 years of operation in Middlesex; part of a network of 269 CFDCs across Canada, many with nearly 30 years of history serving rural and small urban communities across Canada

9 What else does the CFDC offer? Existing partnerships to expand and create program development Outreach to new partners who have an interest in bringing new services to Middlesex-based communities Federal and Provincial connections to leverage additional investments in the local area.

Supported more than 200 community economic development projects with CFDC Contributions of $2,555,654 including but, not limited to: Middlesex Heritage Trail Middlesex Workforce Strategy Employer One Survey Mystery Shopper Challenge Small Business Education Series Social Finance Social Enterprise Robotics Challenge Finding Solutions IT Infrastructure Socio-Economic Needs Assessment Break into Business Café Sustainable Agricultural Best Practices Job Creation Partnerships Main Street Middlesex First Impressions Business Exchange Make Your Case Business Challenge Small Business Internship Programs Shop4Good.ca Centre for Non- Profit Collaboration Tourism Middlesex Sand Plains Community Development Fund

11 What has the CFDC accomplished from a business perspective?: Logged over 30,000 contacts with individuals already running, or looking to run businesses in Middlesex County Conducted over 1400 meetings with referral sources including business professionals and non-profit agencies looking to support the residents and investors in Middlesex County Advanced over 130 loans to small businesses in Middlesex County, representing a total loan value of $11.4 million Built its current loans pool to over $6.1 million; with some $4.6 million currently invested in some 40 small businesses operating in Middlesex County (excluding the City of London)

12 What does the next 5 years hold for the CFDC? Committed operational funding through FedDev Ontario (5 year contract in place) General and Sand Plains Community Development Fund loans New delivery agent for Youth Loans through Futurpreneur No cost consulting for new and existing business Centre for Non Profit Collaboration Focus on sustainability in purchased property at 5182 Egremont Drive Local CED programming with a focus on general business (Middlesex Business Matters; Main Street Middlesex) Regional economic development and Access to Capital programming for Southwestern Ontario
