Alfred University: Programs offered in art, astronomy, ceramic and glass engineering, creative writing, consumer chemistry, computer engineering, polymers and metals science, robotics engineering, theatre, swimming and equestrian. Visit Amherst Police Department Youth Police Academy 3 week internship program for high school students considering a law enforcement career. Further information and applications may be found at under Police Department. Deadline April 24. Babson Entrepreneur Development Experience: Residential program July 7 th August 8 th. Students can earn 4 college credits. Focus is on entrepreneurial ventures that create social, economic and environmental value. Visit Deadline is April 1.
2 BEAM Summer Programs: for minorities, young women and students interested in exploring careers in engineering and other technical fields. Programs run Monday through Friday and include filed trips and career speakers. Applications can be found at and are due April 10. Boston University Summer Investigative Journalism Workshop: Students live on campus and gain hands on experience in investigative reporting while developing critical thinking and writing skills. Three two week workshops are offered. Applicants who apply by March 31 will be entered into their ipad giveaway. Bryant University: in Partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers host the PricewaterhouseCoopers Accounting Careers Leadership Institute (PwCACLI). June This is a week long hands on opportunity for Latino/a and African American or Black high school juniors (rising seniors) to learn more about the accounting profession. Students must have a 3.0 or higher gpa. Application deadline is April 3. Buffalo State Summer Music Institute: Classical Camp July 6 10; Jazz Camp July Camp Neuro Buffalo 2015: Run by local medical students in 18 cities nationwide, this is a 1 week summer day camp open to high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine. Visit Canisius College Summer Honors Program: Open to rising seniors: For three weeks in July, Summer Honors consists of two interdisciplinary courses, either of which offers 3 college credits for $300 per course. These courses are Disease and Medicine in America and The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of Buffalo. Cornell University Summer College: Choose from programs in Architecture and Art, Business and Leadership, College Success, Design and Fashion, Engineering and Computing, Hotel Management, Law and Government, Medicine, Psychology, Research and Science, Social Change, Sustainability, Veterinary Medicine or design your own. LEAP of WNY Summer Reading Camp This program provides reading assessment and research based reading instruction for struggling readers in Grades K 12. 4 NYU College Access Leadership Institute: a 5 day residential program for high school sophomore and juniors that aims to demystify the college admissions process. The program will include workshops and small group sessions on a variety of topics including college admissions, college entrance test preparation, essay and resume writing, interviewing and presentation skills, financial aid literacy. NYU Summer Offerings: NYU Pre College is their signature program but they have also added a 1 week Summer Academy and a 1 week, no charge, College Access Leadership Institute for students in underrepresented communities. Areas of study include drama, dramatic writing, filmmaking, game design, interactive telecommunications, photography and imaging, and recorded music. Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles: July 6 July 31, intensive, four week, pre college program for students 15 and older who wish to experience what it is like to study at one of the top art and design colleges in the country. Brochure available in the Counseling Center. Phillips Exeter Academy, New Hampshire: Five weeks of academic study, athletics, and exploration. July 5 August 8. Visit Pratt Institute: Students interested in art, design, fashion, film, writing, or architecture programs will develop their skills and create a comprehensive art or writing portfolio in preparation for their college admissions application while earning 4 college credits. RIT 25 th Annual College and Careers Program: Open to students entering their senior year; students will explore academic and career options working with RIT students and faculty using state of the art facilities and technology. Offered 2 weekends this summer July and August 7 8. Starting in June, students can register online at Royal Veterinary College, University of London: A twelve day program in August includes a range of interactive workshops and applied clinical activities for inspiring veterinary medicine and biological sciences students. Syracuse University Summer College For Grades 9 11; students will explore academic majors for 2 6 weeks in credit and non credit programs, further their college search through college prep workshops and tours of local colleges and universities, receive assistance from writing consultants and tutors as needed, live in a residence hall and keep active with their recreational facilities, and take field trips to local cultural attractions. Temple s Summer Owls Leadership Experience for High School Students: Students will choose 1 three credit college course in business, media and communication, health professions or science; live in a residence hall for 3 weeks and participate in programs outside the classroom with other high school students in a safe and supervised program; engage in leadership and college preparation workshops.
