14 Judson Early College Academy (JECA) (Or who are all these 14 year olds and what are they doing on campus?) 14
15 JECA is a partnership with the following Texas Education Agency Judson Independent School District Northeast Lakeview College Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board 15
16 JECA students are integrated into college classes the first semester of their freshman year, gradually increasing the number until they are taking almost all college classes their senior year. 16
17 The Basics of JECA Located on the beautiful new Northeast Lakeview College campus Student must reside in Judson school district Limited to 500 students maximum, 125 students a year Students must enter JECA as freshmen, no transfers Students must maintain college GPA to stay in program Students who leave JECA return to home high school Students are picked up and dropped off at their previous middle schools 17
18 JECA focuses on academics no athletic teams or fine arts program. However, there will be student clubs and JECA students can join NLC activities. 18

20 Finds the traditional high school curriculum unchallenging Needs extra support to accelerate learning Is not interested in athletics, choir, band, etc. Has a strong focus on academics Prefers a non-traditional school environment Prospers in smaller settings 20
21 JECA Student Eligibility (student demographics should mirror JISD overall demographics) Average under achieving student top 20% 30% Has the capacity and desire to perform in college level courses Shows a sincere interest in academics and a willingness to work hard A smooth transition into college might be a challenge for (i.e., Low income students, minority students, English Language Learners, and firstgeneration college bound students) Has good discipline and attendance record 21
22 Overall 8 th grade average is All core course semester averages are 85+ English Language Arts Math Science Social Studies Overall attendance rate for 7 th and/or 8 th grade is 90%+ 7 th and/or 8 th grade TAKS scores for Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies are th grade TAKS Writing score of 4 No discipline issues 22
