4 CCT library Quality assurance The library and information service at CCT incorporates resources covering all the main IT areas and schools of thought, reflecting the academic focus of the college. Moodle Moodle is an open source course management system used throughout CCT. Students can access course notes of full- and part-time courses, past exam papers and sample assessments, conduct online exams and assignments in relation to the course material they are studying, and keep abreast of important social and academic dates. 5 Student life At CCT, we are committed to enhancing the student experience by offering a range of services from careers information to social and sporting activities. Accommodation service This service is mainly used by our international students. We can provide home stay accommodation with an Irish family, which suits your needs and special requests. CCT also offers advice on finding and sharing independent accommodation around Dublin. Airport transfer The warm CCT welcome for our international students can begin with airport transfer to and from Dublin airport. Counselling service Although college is usually a positive experience, some students can experience difficulties. CCT offers a confidential counselling service, provided by a professionally registered counselling psychologist working as a consultant to the College. Health service CCT provides a subsidised medical service, for a nominal fee per visit to a professionally registered practitioner. We can also arrange medical insurance at a reduced rate for non-eu nationals studying at the College. Free career guidance CCT is committed to providing a free, learner-centred guidance and information service to our students, which is confidential, impartial, flexible and courteous. Information and publications The Student Office at CCT is an information hub and is always accessible. A course-specific student handbook is distributed to all registered students, which presents all the information you need to get started. Student development programme Our Student Services Department offers a range of workshops and seminars throughout the academic year relating to such relevant subjects as stress management, study skills, communication skills and exam techniques. Sports and social programmes We are always delighted to expand the range of clubs and societies at CCT, as determined by student demand. Opportunities for participation in sport and recreation at the College can be provided in nearby facilities, including soccer, cricket, swimming, badminton, basketball, indoor soccer, GAA and a gym.

6 International Foundation Programme CCT112 Course Overview The International Foundation Programme of CCT is an undergraduate foundation programme which develops international students knowledge, skills and competence in Computing, IT, and Business, as well as enhancing and improving English Language levels proficiency. The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Liberal Arts, is to prepare international students for undergraduate further and higher education level, and to help learners gain access to university. Programme Content This programme is generally delivered over 4 academic semesters, 2 academic years (although students with an IELTS score of 5.0 upon entrance to this programme may be able to complete the programme in 1 year): Year 1 General English Language studies and English for Academic Purposes, accredited by ACELS Ireland Year 2 Semester 1 Communications Mathematics Computer Applications and Information Technology Skills Personal & Professional Development Semester 2 Applied Communications Business Administration Internet Social Studies Assessment CCT will utilise a variety of assessment methods to help ensure that the learning outcomes of each subject will be achieved, for example: Written Examination compiled of long or short term essays, Objective Tests, Presentations, Group Projects, Practical Assignments, Oral Examinations and so on. Assessment will be continuous throughout each module, with final examinations administered in most of the modules. Learners will also be assessed for FETAC Level 5 award certification and IELTS exam. Mechanisms for giving and receiving feedback on learning progress CCT constantly encourages feedback from its learners in a formal and informal basis. Learners have an opportunity to give feedback on the college, programme, faculty, facilities, administration, student services and admissions and course induction through the following verification surveys: 1) Learner Verification survey; 2) Student Services and Support survey; and 3) Admissions and Course Induction survey. CCT constantly encourages feedback from its learners in a formal and informal basis. Learners also conduct an Ongoing Monitoring Review process with faculty and administration of the college once per semester. This programme is awarded by the Further Education and Training Awards Council of Ireland (FETAC) and ACELS. This programme is also included on the Irish Dept of Education & Science, Internationalisation Register, of approved full-time programmes in Ireland. Academic Progression Opportunities Successful graduates of the FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Information Technology, will be eligible to progress directly onto the HETAC Level 6 Higher Certificate standard, or progressing directly onto Level 7 and 8 Bachelors level, at Irish and UK universities. Duration/ Commencement dates One - Two academic years (two separate routes depending on pre-requisite knowledge and experience in IT). CCT usually commences full-time programmes over 3 intakes per year: February, May and September. Please contact CCT directly for the next Commencement date. 7 International Foundation Programme CCT112 Protection for Learners policy The college maintains a Protection for Learners Policy for this programme. In the unlikely event of a programme of study unexpectedly ceasing, learners will be transferred to another provider offering the same or similar programme. To facilitate this, CCT has in place arrangements with two other educational and training providers to which course participants will be directed in the unlikely event of cessation of a programme. In the event of a programme of study unexpectedly ceasing, where the option of transfer is not acceptable or feasible to the learner, CCT will refund the most recently paid fees. CCT has in place academic bonding arrangement with two other providers of the FETAC Level 5 Certificate in IT programme. Learner Supports available The following Learner Supports are available for this programme: Mentoring, Accommodation and Airport Transfer (if applicable), Counselling Service, Health Service, Career Guidance Service, Learner Development programme, Sports and Social programmes, Information and Publication service, Moodle, Learner disability testing and expert advice service through the CCT affiliation with IT Blanchardstown and the National Learning Network. Entry Requirements No previous experience or knowledge is required to be accepted for this course. However, any experience within the Computing and ICT sector will be advantageous, as well as Irish NQF Level 4 certification in the subject area of Computing and ICT. International learners whose first language is not English should have achieved an IELTS score of 4.0 or the following TOEFL equivalency: TOEFL CBT / TOEFL IBT - 41.

8 Diploma in ICT Systems Support CCT106 Course Audience This full-time programme is ideal for any learner with an interest and motivation to embark on a Computing career, specifically within the areas of Networking and Systems Administration. It provides a strong introductory foundation to these pertinent, practical areas with the field of Computing and Information Technology. No pre-requisite knowledge of Networking and Systems Administration is required to commence this course. Course Overview The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Diploma in ICT Systems Support, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive introductory foundation and understanding of the area of ICT Systems Support. It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entry-level roles within the area of Systems and Network Support, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within ICT Systems Support at undergraduate level and specifically progressing onto the City & Guilds Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems Support. 9 Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems Support CCT108 Course Overview The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Advanced Diploma for Software Developers, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive intermediate understanding in the area of Software Development. It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entrylevel roles within this area, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within Programming and Software Development. 11 Advanced Diploma for Software Developers CCT109 Course Overview The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems Support, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive foundation and understanding of the area of ICT Systems Support. It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entrylevel and junior roles within the area of Systems and Network Support, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within ICT Systems Support at undergraduate level. It is ideal for those candidates who want to install and support ICT systems, want career progression within the ICT industry, those who wish to build on the skills and knowledge acquired at Diploma level. 12 FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Information Technology CITXX Course Audience The FETAC Level 5 Certificate in IT is a full-time one - two year further education training programme. The programme is designed to provide a general introduction to the area of Information Communications Technology, and to serve as a pre-higher education programme to college or university. No previous experience or knowledge is required to be accepted for this course. Course Overview The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of FETAC Level 5 Certificate in IT, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive introductory foundation and understanding of the main subject areas and schools of thought within the area of Information Technology at Irish NFQ Level 5. 14 Certified Information Technology Systems Specialist (CITSS) CCT103 Course Audience The Certified Information Technology Systems Specialist (CITSS) programme is ideal for those with a PC Maintenance, IT Support, IT Administrator, or Networking background. It would be considered a non-essential advantage to have at least 1 years occupational experience within the IT field. The most important necessity is to have enthusiasm and motivation to complete this programme. Experience is not essential. Course Overview The Certified Information Technology Systems Administrator (CITSS) programme comprises one academic qualification from FETAC, and three professional industry sectoral awards by three leading globally accredited IT awarding bodies CompTIA, Microsoft and Cisco. The programme covers computer maintenance and troubleshooting, networking and network security, software and hardware configuration necessary to access a successful career in the computer industry, or to pursue further studies at undergraduate and graduate level. The CITSS programme leads to four awards / qualifications. Students are positioned to undertake the following industry-recognised examinations: FETAC Level 6 Certificate in Computer Network Technology Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) CompTIA A+ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) The overall aim of the CITSS programme is to provide the individual candidate with sufficient practical and theoretical computer knowledge to pursue a technical career as a professional IT Technical Engineer. Stage 1: FETAC Level 6 Certificate in Computer Network Technology Systems Software Network Models & Technologies Client Server Networks Network Administration System Maintenance Wan Technologies Switching Basics Routing Technologies The CITSS incorporates certification by FETAC and the following leading IT corporations: Microsoft CompTIA Cisco Entry Requirements The academic entrance requirements for CCT s CITSA professional diploma programme are: Irish Leaving Certificate (Final Secondary school examination) 5 passes at Ordinary level including Mathematics and any language International equivalent academic entrance requirements can be ascertained by contacting us directly. Or FETAC Level 5 Certification in a related field Or Mature students (23 or over) need to satisfy an interview with a panel of experts at CCT, and may not need satisfy any entrance requirements Or 3 years experience in the IT and Computing industry As a guideline, International students whose native language is not English are required to produce an internationally recognised English language test score equivalent to an absolute minimum score of 5.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam. The recommended IELTS score for this programme is: 5.5, or the following TOEFL equivalencies: TOEFL CBT 183 / TOEFL IBT 65 Assessment CCT will utilise a variety of assessment methods to help ensure that the learning outcomes of each subject will be achieved, for example: Industry certification online exams, Written Examinations, Objective Tests, Presentations, Group Projects, Practical Assignments, Oral Examinations and so on. Assessment will be continuous throughout each module, with final examinations administered in most of the modules. Stage 2: CompTIA A+ Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

16 Higher Certificate in Science in Computing in Information Technology CCT110 Course Audience This full-time programme is ideal for any learner with an interest and motivation to embark on a Computing career. It provides a strong introductory foundation to the more pertinent areas with the field of Computing and Information Technology. No prerequisite knowledge of Computing and IT is required to commence this course, but any previous knowledge, skills or competence in the area would be advantageous. In the unlikely event of a programme of study unexpectedly ceasing, learners will be transferred to another provider offering the same or similar programme. To facilitate this, CCT has in place arrangements with two other HETAC accreditedng providers to which course participants will be directed in the unlikely event of cessation of this programme. In the event of a programme of study unexpectedly ceasing, where the option of transfer is not acceptable or feasible to the learner, CCT will refund the most recently paid fees.
