5 Conference Theme: Global markets and operations force companies to rethink their business innovation and research activities, and in turn, their overall organizational competitiveness. In order to be successful in this global market, organizations should engage in effective business innovation and research in a timely and collaborative manner. Towards this end, companies have undergone changes over the years in terms of implementing new business research and innovation strategies, methods and technologies. To provide worldclass customer service, advanced business innovation and research management techniques supported by management commitment and good organizational infrastructure are needed to provide objective means of improving organizational competitiveness. This compels researchers and practitioners alike to look at various business innovation and research issues from the perspective of needs, issues and enablers. Business innovation significantly contributes to the improvement in enterprise productivity and quality. Innovation and research are integral components of business strategy and success. Designing and developing suitable strategies, techniques, tools and models for business innovation and research have become an essential function of researchers and practitioners in a global economy; new strategies, techniques and tools for innovation and research in business will be the main focus of this conference. Companies constantly look for innovative processes and methods to gain a competitive advantage. Unfortunately, the assets and ideas in organizations are not fully utilized to improve the value of the organization. Organizing a process to take advantage of information technology and systems for business innovation should be part of every organization. One of the largest unrealized opportunities in organizations today is fully leveraging ideas and knowledge to transform business processes into continuing innovation. GBID will act as a platform to encourage further research in business innovation and research. Who should attend the conference? Professionals, academicians, researchers, policy makers and practitioners, working in the field of business innovation and development. Submissions GBID welcomes original papers, review papers, conceptual framework, analytical and simulation models, case studies, empirical research, technical notes, and book reviews. Business innovation and research strategies, tactics and tools of both theoretical and practical nature are welcome. Articles that deal with innovation and research issues in accounting and finance, marketing, management information systems, organizational management, operations, supply chain, logistics, government, entrepreneurship, business infrastructure development, ethical and environmental laws and standards, health services, international business, manufacturing, education, energy, mining, sports, and transportation are encouraged. Special session proposals are encouraged.

Towards this end, companies have undergone changes over the years in terms of implementing new business research and innovation strategies, methods and technologies.

6 The official language of the conference is English. Original manuscripts of exceptional quality may be eligible for publication in a special volume of a refereed academic journal published by our sponsors. Accepted submissions will be published in the conference proceedings as either full papers or abstracts as selected by the submitter. Please submit four copies of your manuscript in English following APA style guidelines. Manuscripts should be in 12 point Times New Roman font and no more than 20 pages in length including references, exhibits and/or tables and figures.
