the next standard in solar power compact, efficient, and innovative
a brighter future with pyron solar power The need for clean technology and a renewable energy supply has become urgent. The sun, which warms us and helps plants grow, generates more power in one second than the largest of our nuclear or hydroelectric plants can produce in a year. However, despite the efforts of many, over a number of years, challenges have hindered scientist s efforts to efficiently and scalably harness the power in the sun s rays. Pyron Solar has developed and refined an elegant, proprietary solution perfect for utility companies, those with rural electrification needs, and large commercial firms. As is true with many innovations, the solution, once understood, seems obvious. Yet no other company was able to develop and patent an optics system that so effectively captures and directs the sun s energy; no other company uses water as a passive coolant and no other company has designed such a low-profile, attractive product. Physicists worked on this technology, a labor of love, for nearly 20 years, before founding Pyron Solar in Management, manufacturing, research and development, sales and marketing functions are all located at the San Diego, California company headquarters. The product is scalable; its impact, global.
the next standard in solar power the pyron solar triad compact, efficient, innovative The key to harnessing the sun s power reliably can be found in Pyron Solar s unique and proprietary 90kWp DC CPV generating system with dual axis solar tracking. It includes three, ideally spaced, 30 kwp DC arrays 15 m in diameter, all floating in water. The tracking system in azimuth is driven by small, low cost motors. key advantages: Structural modules with multiple HE Optic Systems tilt up and down Several features distinguish the Pyron Solar Triad. The proprietary lens system sets a new standard of excellence. The dual axis tracking system captures the maximum possible sun power regardless of season or time of day. The innovative use of water, with its highly efficient cooling properties, also provides a perfect horizontal solar tracking reference and eliminates potential damage from earthquakes. A low-profile, scalable design that also maximizes land use and allows for easy maintenance means that all who work with Pyron Solar products applaud the system. Platform rotates around its vertical axis Proprietary Lens System (HE Optics System) Dual Axis Tracking System Passive Heat Transfer to Water Low-Profile, Scalable Design Maximized Land Use Easy Maintenance Seismic and wind load resistant design Low Construction Costs
HE optics system performance and value HE Optics System Incoming Sunlight Sunlight first meets the HE Optics System at its specially designed and patented, shortfocal-length, acrylic concentrating lens. As the rays pass through the lens, the light reflects and refracts, raising the sunlight concentration to 6,500 suns on a small pinpoint of light. A secondary optic, with its specially manufactured glass body, captures this pinpoint and deposits the concentrated solar flux evenly on a small multi-junction PV cell. Together, the elements produce 800 times more electricity than a similarly-sized silicon solar cell. Energy / kw Lens Optic Cell PERCENT RATED POWER Sun Tracking Benefits Pyron Solar Concentrating, Tracking PV Stationary PV 6:00 7:00 8:00 9:00 10:00 11:00 12:00 13:00 14:00 15:00 16:00 17:00 18:00 TIME OF DAY solar tracking: Regardless of season or time of day, Pyron Solar efficiently tracks the sun. A platform with multiple arrays, floating close to each other in shallow, evaporation-retardant water, rotate around its vertical axis with the azimuthal travel of the sun. A special gear activates a linkage to allow each floating module to track solar elevation by tilting up and down as needed. The linkages are powered by three small 6-watt motors, the same size used in children s toys. System Specifications Name Plate Capacity 90 kwp DC Cell Efficiency 36.5% Solar Aperture (Single Lens) m 2 Module Efficiency 20% -22% Tracking System Dual Axis passive heat transfer to water: Pyron Solar s modules float in specially-treated water that effectively disperses the heat generated by its PV cells. Using water as a passive coolant virtually eliminates the wind issues (too much and too little) that can plague competitors. As a result, users of Pyron Solar products can expect to capture more energy, more reliably, and with less waste overall, even if the potential power of a competitor s PV cell is claimed to be equivalent.
compact design and scalability offers a highly efficient use of land cost and benefits the next standard in solar power In an ideal world, energy would be plentiful and cheap. In an ideal world, we wouldn t have to worry about running out of power, or leaving our children with environmental problems like pollution and depleted resources. We d prepare for the next generation by handing them tools they can use to move forward, to explore, to invent, to enjoy life. In the past, what has worked theoretically was not able to be implemented in the field. Pyron Solar s unique HE Optics System and creative triad platforms may help change the face of tomorrow by providing plentiful energy today. An ideal world may be closer than we think. low profile: Pyron Solar products float in a shallow pool of water only 16 inches from the ground the lowest profile dual axis tracking system in the industry. Distinct advantages offered by this design include lack of susceptibility to extreme conditions caused by wind, hail, sand and earthquakes (the product automatically realigns itself), favorable visual impact, and ease of access for maintenance and upkeep needs. unlimited scalability: Pyron Solar products are designed for unlimited scalability. Nearly the entire base area incorporates the HE Optics System elements, making the product s ability to generate energy nearly limitless. compact design: The product s triad configuration maximizes land use. As a result, Pyron Solar products are able to collect more sunlight per acre than any competitive offering. Because the system sits so close to the ground, the potentially negative impact of large shadows on energy gathering is minimized. low cost aspect: Pyron Solar physicists were able to develop an effective, yet practical system. Investment in Pyron Solar products is appropriately allocated to the high quality elements that absorb and process solar radiation; this varies based on each customer s configuration needs. The housing for Pyron Solar s HE Optics System is cost-effective and relatively easy to maintain. high energy conversion: Pyron Solar products enjoy exceptionally high energy conversion due to its proprietary HE Optics System which harnesses 800 times more electricity than similarly-sized, conventional, non-concentrating silicon cells. rapid construction in field: Customers who purchase Pyron Solar products can benefit from their wise decision quickly. The system is simple and installation easy. Its horizontal orientation offers both construction and maintenance advantages.
