3 In the Basic/Refresher course, you will learn the role of each professional in collaborative practice; how the professionals interact and develop an effective team and the importance of a mutual goal to facilitate success. There is a mixture of plenary sessions, video demonstrations, role play exercises and breakout sessions for the individual professions to have an opportunity to focus on skills and questions unique to their specialty. In the Advanced/Intermediate course, you will tackle the challenges of interest-based communications and address how to handle and understand the perspective of the client. Additionally, the course will take on some of the more difficult situations including what to do when the professional team member is the problem, and dealing with resistant and difficult clients. LONE STAR INSTRUCTORS Scott Clarke, CFP, CDFA Scott Clarke is a Certified Financial Planner and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst currently in private practice in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He has been in the financial advisor business since the early 1990s and has specialized in the divorce financial aspects for the past 8 years. He is actively involved in the collaborative team approach, working as a financial neutral. Scott presents training on the role of a financial neutral throughout Texas and nationally. He serves as Treasurer of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas (CLI-TX) Board of Trustees. In addition he has served as a member of the CLI-TX Financial Protocols Committee, CLI-TX Membership Committee, CLI-TX Training Committee, and was the Course Director for the 2008 CLI-TX Spring Retreat. Linda Solomon, LPC, LMFT Linda Solomon is a member of the board of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice for 24 years in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Her work with individuals, couples and families has focused on relationship issues and addictive behaviors. She is actively involved in the collaborative team approach, working as a communications coach. She is also trained as a Parenting Coordinator. Linda presents training on the role of a coach throughout Texas and nationally. She is also a member of the Texas interdisciplinary training team, and, serves as a mentor to other mental health professionals. She serves on the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas Board of Trustees and the Texas Mental Health Protocols Committee. She is a member of Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and IACP.

4 Norma Levine Trusch, JD Norma Levine Trusch was certified as a specialist in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1983, and elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in A frequent lecturer on family law both in Texas and nationwide, Norma was the 1996 recipient of the David A. Gibson Award for Professionalism, awarded by Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists and the 2006 recipient of the Dan R. Price Award for outstanding contributions in family law from the Family Law Council of the State Bar of Texas. Norma is an Adjunct Professor of Law at South Texas College of Law, where she teaches Collaborative Law and Texas Marital Property Law. In 2006, she was named to the list of The Best Lawyers in America. Norma is director of training for the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, Inc. and a Past President of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
