2 Learning Objectives To gain knowledge of core elements of partner abuse intervention services To increase competence in screening process and service coordination To learn new techniques for teaching skills and facilitating change in abusers To explore better practices in service delivery for domestic violence perpetrators Continuing Education Credits Continuing education credits will be provided by Deer Rehabilitation Services Inc: Social Workers (LSW and LCSW) Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC, LPC) Domestic Violence Professionals Training Content This 3 day training is designed to help new partner abuse intervention program staff gain the information and skills to conduct intake screenings, facilitate group, and design programs which meet the Illinois protocols for PAIP programs. The training will provide opportunities for practical application in the delivery of those services. The training format mirrors the PAIP group process and supports enhancement of skills, increased competency, problem solving and application of intervention strategies. Activities will include presentation, small group discussion, role-play exercises, and video presentations. The Illinois protocol for partner abuse intervention programs requires facilitators to obtain 20 hours of training in abuser services. This workshop will meet this requirement. It is highly recommended that participants have obtained the 40 hours of IDVA (Illinois Domestic Violence Act) training prior to the attendance of this workshop. Registration priority will be given to staff working in protocol approved partner abuse programs and agencies in the process of submitting an application for protocol approval. Workshop Presenters The major faculty of the training is Michelle Maldonado BS, CPAIP and Dr. Dennis Deer LCPC, CRC. They have nearly 25 years of combined experience in partner abuse intervention (review full bio In addition, faculty from disciplines of DV and substance abuse will supplement the workshop with additional subject matter.

Unfortunately because we have to account for CEU time and State mandated 20 hours, if you are more than 15 minutes late we cannot allow you to enter the training. We thank you for understanding and complying with this. Parking Parking in the South Loop is approximately $7-$10 daily, we encourage car pooling and public transportation if feasible.
