1 Tandberg Basics: Using Your Video Conference Equipment Overview: In this tutorial, you will learn to establish a point to point connection with another location using your school s the Tandberg video conference equipment. You will also learn some of the basic features of the Tandberg remote. 2 Tandberg Remote This is your Tandberg remote: The Yellow MIC OFF button mutes and un mutes your side of the video conference Arrows & Menu a. Arrows move the Main Camera up, down, left, right b. OK(MENU) button reveal menus that you can use to customize your video conference Self View Button it is a good idea to use this button prior to connecting to check to see where your Main Camera is focused. If you need to change your focus, use the Arrows (#2) or the Zoom button (#4) 4. Zoom Button Zoom in on the Main Camera when you press the top of this button; zoom out when you press the top of this button 9 5. Volume Button increase/decrease volume on your end of the connection: press the top of the button to raise the volume & turn down the volume by pressing the bottom of the button on your end of the video conference 6. Layout Button press this button to show your PIP (Picture in Picture) so you can see the video that you are sending to the other end of your video conference. 7. Initiate Call Button press this to dial out to another location or to select a number from the Address Book 8. Disconnect Call Button ends current video conference connection(s) 9. Number Pad use the number pad to enter an IP Address (use the * key for the dots (.) in the address; or you can use the numbers for camera presets
3 Initiate a Video Conference Call Entering an IP Address Manually: 1. Press the green INITIATE CALL button 2. Enter the IP Address of your video conference connection (remember to use the * key on the number pad to enter the dots (.) within the IP address) 3. Press the green INITIATE CALL button to establish the connection Locating an IP Address in Your Contacts 1. Press the ADDRESS BOOK button on the remote 2. Arrow DOWN to MY CONTACTS 3. Press OK(MENU) button on the remote 4. Find your desired contact using the DOWN arrow on the remote 5. Press the OK(MENU) button to select it 6. Press the green INITIATE CALL button Disconnect a Call: Press the red Disconnect Call button on the remote and then press it again.
4 Add an IP Address to the Address Book 1. Press the Address Book button on the remote 2. Arrow down to MY CONTACTS using the Arrow button on the remote 3. Press OK(MENU) on the remote 4. Arrow left once and then arrow down once to open the ADD NEW CONTACT BOX 5. Use the number keypad on the remote to enter the name and IP Address of the contact (use the down arrow to move through the fields) 6. Arrow down to highlight OK on the dialog box and press OK(MENU) on the remote
5 Switching from Main Camera to Peripherals 1. Press MENU (OK) on the remote 2. Right Arrow over to PRESENTATION on the screen 3. Press MENU (OK) on the remote 4. On the screen, arrow over to the peripheral you would like to use (PC, Document Camera, AUX, etc.) 5. Press MENU (OK) on the remote Repeat these steps to get back to the Main Camera. You can use PRESETS to move back and forth from the Main Camera to one or more of your peripherals (PC, Document Camera, AUX, etc.). Tip: If you plan to hook up your laptop to the unit so you can share what is on your computer during a video conference, you will need either a VGA cable or an S Video cable. In order to get the laptop to communicate with your Tandberg, you will need to hold down the Fn key on the laptop keyboard and press the Function key at the top of the keyboard that says CRT/LCD or has a icon that might look like this: (see image below) You may have to press these keys a few times to get the image on your screen to appear both on the Tandberg and on your monitor at the same time. Be patient and don t press the keys too fast it may take a moment or 2 before the signal reaches the codec. VGA Cable S Video Cable
6 Camera Presets: Presets help you quickly move the camera to a specific location or peripheral. It is best to set presets by connecting to a call first. Quick Presets: You can set camera presets very quickly by following the directions below: 1. Set camera to the desired position with the remote. 2. Press and hold a number between 0 and 9 for one second, until you see a dialog box on the screen that says ATTENTION: MAIN CAM & AUDIO INPUT STORED ON P# (The # represents the number you chose for your preset that is the number you will use to access that preset) Named Presets: You can set and name your presets to help you remember each one you set by following the directions below: 1. Set camera to the desired position using the Zoom button and Arrow buttons on the remote. 2. Press OK(MENU) on the remote 3. Arrow right 2 times and choose CAMERA CONTROL 4. Press OK(MENU) on the remote 5. Arrow right one time to choose SAVE NEW CAMERA PRESET 6. Press OK(MENU) on the remote 7. Give it a number (0 14) and a name using the number keypad (just like texting on your cell phone!) 8. Use the down arrow on the remote to move through the Preset dialog box choose the SAVE button in the dialog box and press OK(MENU) on the remote To use your presets: 1. Press any number on the number keypad on the remote 2. A dialog box pops up on the screen. Arrow down to USE PRESETS press OK(MENU) on the remote 3. Use the arrows on the remote to choose one of your presets press OK(MENU) on the remote to select it 4. Now you can arrow left and right to quickly select different presets 5. When you are finished, select the X button with the remote to exit out of Preset mode, or simply press the X Cancel button on the remote.
7 Change the Layout of a Conference on a Multisite Unit 1. Press MENU (OK) on the remote 2. Use the Right Arrow button to move over to SERVICES 3. Arrow over to LAYOUT 4. There you will find the different layouts for the screen and voice switching
8 Troubleshooting & Tips: Turning the volume all the way down with your remote does NOT mute your microphone! Use the yellow MIC OFF button to mute your microphone so the other side of your connection won t hear you. It is a good idea to mute your microphone when first connecting and when the other side of the connection is doing a lengthy presentation to limit distractions. If you can t hear anything on the other end of your connection, make sure the volume on your remote is turned up. If it is, and you still can t hear anything, ask the other end if their microphone is muted. If you ve tried that, try disconnecting and calling back. If the other side of the conference is too noisy, ask them to turn off their microphone until you are ready to interact. Point the remote at the camera to make it work. If you enter an IP Address incorrectly and need to backspace, press the Cancel(X) key on the remote. Need help?
