1 Time Matters and Billing Matters 13.2 Obtaining the Software Time Matters is available via the download link that appears in your product key . For assistance, please visit the Time Matters Support Center, contact your LexisNexis CIC (Certified Independent Consultant), or call LexisNexis Technical Support at Before you Install Be sure to do the following before installing version 13.2: Perform a complete backup of your Time Matters data files and documents. Close Time Matters and all open applications on your computer. 2 Billing Matters - New Billing Values Additional values have been added to the Billing List Reports to allow for additional fields to be displayed on the report. The values are: Date - Select to display the data by Record Date or Billed Date. Duration - Select to display the Record Duration or Billed Duration / Quantity. If you select Record Duration, the "Time" value displays the record's start and end times. If you select Billed Duration / Quantity, the "Time" value is blank. Code - Select to display the Class Code (record classification code) or Billing Code. Save Multiple s as Documents You now have the ability to save multiple Outlook s as documents simultaneously. You no longer have to save them one at a time. Quarterly Recurring Events and ToDo's A "Quarterly" option, that allows you to schedule recurring Events and ToDo's on a quarterly basis, has been added to the "Repeating Formula" window. Disconnect External Drives During Installation During the installation and upgrade you are now asked to remove all external hard drives to prevent installation or upgrade issues from occurring. Time Matters 13 Client Portal Online File-Sharing A new, integrated client portal, powered by technology from WatchDox, lets you share your Time Matters documents online with clients, experts, and other third parties. This file-sharing portal helps you control and protect your shared files by allowing you to: Define who can access the file only the contact(s) associated with the matter, anyone with the same domain as the contact(s) or everyone Determine what they can do with the document view, print or download Prevent screen captures of the file by displaying only small areas at a time Identify the time-frame that they can access the document Track the file s whereabouts at all times and maintain an audit trail for compliance purposes Revoke access to files anytime Contacts are notified of shared files by and can view the files from any Internet-connected computer, smartphone, or tablet. 2 of 10

3 Automatic Data Backup Time Matters 13 lets you schedule and automate backups of your Time Matters database and Time Matters shared file directory to help protect you from the unexpected. You can specify a time of day for the backup that s convenient for firm members, and the backup frequency. You can also perform a manual backup at any time. Usability Improvements The following usability improvements provided in Time Matters 13 can help you work more efficiently in the software. Sort records by date and time in the Contact Timeline, Matter Timeline and Attachments List to make the most recent items likely the ones you re looking for readily accessible Color-code matters within the calendar to easily identify related tasks and events, as well as visually remind you about the billable time you ve worked throughout the day Be more productive through improved Messenger performance Take advantage of all the changes and improvements in new releases sooner with a simpler process for new server and workstation installations Billing Matters In preparation for the December 31, 2013 discontinuation of Billing Matters Accounting (Billing Matters Plus) support, the following features have been removed from the Billing Matters 13 software: Accounts payable Chart of accounts Vendor lists and 1099 reporting Check-writing (if link to third-party accounting software is not enabled) Bank reconciliation Financial reporting Journal entries The following features remain in the Billing Matters software: BillFlow Manager Time and expense capture Payment, deposit, credit and write-off transactions Check-writing (if link to third-party accounting software is enabled) Billing Trust accounting Standard reports for billing, setup and transactions Chart of accounts fields (linked only if the link to Intuit QuickBooks software is enabled) Other Enhancements Certification of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 environments 3 of 10

4 Issues Addressed Time Matters 13.2 The following issues have been addressed in Time Matters 13.2: Billing Matters Standard Reports The 'Write-Up/Down Report' now displays the correct write-up/write-down values The 'Productivity Report' now displays the correct billable hour and productivity percentage values The 'Effective Bill Rate Report' now displays the correct effective bill rate values The 'Recap of Hours Report' now displays the correct billable hour values. Online Document Sharing An Updating Document Sharing message no longer displays or delays login to Time Matters when 'Document Sharing' is not enabled. QuickBooks Link Apostrophes in the 'QuickBooks Job' name no longer cause errors when sending billing items to QuickBooks. TM Connect Saving an as an record will no longer truncate the contents in Time Matters if the contains more than 65,000 characters. Now, s containing up to one million characters (including any HTML formatting information), can be saved to the record. When saving an to Time Matters using TM Connect, certain characters in the are no longer changed to symbols. Time Matters 13.1 The following issues were addressed in Time Matters 13.1: AutoName Having periods in the description no longer truncates the file name when the Description field is part of the auto-naming formula. Billing Matters The billing preference "Total for Matter not to exceed" is now applied for Fees The appropriate Billing settings are now applied when opening Time Matters using a nondefault database. The Total Duration is now properly updated when both the duration timer and billing timer are used The Gross value now calculates properly when the Unit value is changed. 4 of 10

5 Calendar/Scheduler/Docketing Adding a Staff to a recurring Event in Time Matters now creates Event records for the added Staff's Calendar. Chain Templates/Scheduling Chains Document records now have the correct file name when the file is created by a Chain template using a merge template. Contact/Matter Management When using the Full Name format for the Contact Lookup field, the suffix for the displayed contact is no longer truncated. The correct Contact name now displays when selecting a Contact that has Contact records listing them as both an individual and part of a group. The client information on Matters no longer changes when the primary contact for that client is the primary contact for other clients. Custom Forms Custom Form data is now saved if you enter the description first and then select a custom form template with any drop-down or text fields. Data Indexer An error message is no longer displayed when the data indexer starts after opening the Remote version of Time Matters. Document Automation/Creation/Management Document records where the file extension is longer than three characters are now associated with their appropriate application When using a MAPI account, semi-colons are no longer inserted between the last and first names. Exchange Sych Contacts added in Time Matters are now added to the Outlook Address Book when synchronized via Exchange. When synchronizing Outlook appointments/meetings to Time Matters, duplicate Events in Time Matters are no longer created for tentative and accepted meetings. Records are now synchronized between Microsoft Exchange and Time Matters when used with SQL Server Firefox Integration Installing Time Matters with Firefox installed on the machine was improperly detecting and enabling the Firefox integration for an unsupported version. The Firefox integration has been removed. 5 of 10

6 Form Style Form styles using customized tabs now display correctly when imported from previous versions of Time Matters and linked with PCLaw. Forms Selecting a staff on a Phone record no longer disables the Notify option Typing 'T' in the Date field now displays today's date. Installation Installing Time Matters on either Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 machines no longer causes an unhandled exception error You can now disable the integration with WordPerfect when performing a custom install. Online File Sharing Special characters in the contact's name or file path no longer cause errors when attempting to share files via WatchDox. Enabling online file sharing with WatchDox no longer changes the property file used for the Mobility and Outlook field matching. PCLaw Link Organizations are no longer changed to Persons on the Time Matters Contact form after updating the Matter or Contact Time Matters no longer sends data from unmatched Contact and Matter fields to PCLaw The "ALT" and "Main" phone number fields now synchronize properly with PCLaw When creating Billing records for multiple Event records, the matched PCLaw task code is now maintained on all the Billing records. PCLaw link now initializes when you save an Outlook via TM Connect, create a Billing record for it, and send the Billing record to PCLaw Updates in Time Matters no longer update the Last Matter field in PCLaw When using PCLaw auto numbering, new matters created in Time Matters are no longer assigned the matter number of a matter closed in PCLaw. Process Menus Saved Process Change templates now retain their settings after the initial run/creation of the template. QuickBooks Link An invoice is now created when Time Matters is linked with QuickBooks and on a secondary monitor. When linked with QuickBooks, Time Matters no longer posts reverse payments to the TM Global Customer but now posts them to the original customer on the payment. When using the QuickBooks accounting link with Billing Matters, contact and matter updates are no longer sent to QuickBooks when the link is disabled for the logged in user. 6 of 10

7 Regarding Fields You are now prompted to select a Contact or Matter when entering a name in the regarding line and multiples with the same name exist. Remote Synchronization New Matters added to either a Host or Remote database are now synchronized when using transfer files. Scanning Time Matters now allows you to scan PDFs using legal size paper. Security Existing record based exceptions are no longer cleared when you add a user to the special exceptions on a Matter. Standard Reports A note has been added to the Receipt Allocation Report that clarifies what the Billed value represents. Sublist Sub-tabs for the User Defined Record type sublists no longer show the classification code when Time Matters is first opened. Time Matters for Microsoft Office Time Matters for Microsoft Outlook no longer displays an error message on open when a region and language format other than the United States is used. TM Connect When saving multiple s from Outlook, the default method for saving attachments is now applied. You can now open PDF files saved to Time Matters via the TM Connect Save Attachment feature. Importing multiple s via TM Connect no longer causes the 'Error Opening Inputfile' message. When saving multiple attachments as documents from Outlook, the correct document is now saved for each Document record with the correct file name. After saving an HTML from Outlook, all special characters in that are no longer changed to garbage text or vertical bars. 7 of 10

8 Time Matters 13 The following issues were addressed in Time Matters 13: Auditing The Audit log now captures all changes made to any staff member, regardless of where their name falls in the list. Billing Matters When you minimize the Timer window after selecting a start time on a billing matter, the timer now keeps an accurate duration count. Calendar/Scheduler/Docketing When you select a specific Custom Header Color, that color is now applied to the events and todo's on the classic calendar. CaseMap Integration When you click on the ellipses button in a Contact Linked File, the contact form Change window now opens instead of displaying an error message. Create Bills When you uncheck the "Do Not Print Default Bill Message" in the Billing Preferences > Messages tab window, the Default Billing Message now prints on the bills. Document Automation/Creation/Management The "Read Only" document status is no longer being removed by Time Matters. Exchange Sych Microsoft API limitations in the Exchange Configuration Utility limits the number of allowed fields to match. The field matching windows for Event and ToDos have been re-sized to accommodate the available options. Imports Property files that have been customized in a previous version of Time Matters are now properly copied to the Property table during an import from the prior version to Time Matters 13. Juris Link When adding a Client/Matter in Juris and running a manual sync, the sync completes successfully. The new Client/Matter now shows up as Record Added and appears on the Matter List. Lexis Research The application no longer crashes if using Internet Explorer 9 and clicking on the "Open lexis.com" icon for Lexis Research forms in the Add Record window. 8 of 10

9 PCLaw Link If you create a new contact and matter with no staff on the contact, and then save it to PCLaw, the application no longer changes the staff value from blank to something else. When you have the PCLaw link turned on and you change the date in a custom field in the Matter or Contact window, you are no longer prompted with a Record Changed by Another User message. After performing a PCLaw data conversion, the correct alternate billing address for the matter from PCLaw is now displayed on the matter in Time Matters. Process Menus When you process change the status field on a Billing item, the rate/price field now displays in Basic Billing, Juris Link, PCLaw Link, and QuickBooks. QuickBooks Link When errors occur while posting billing entries to QuickBooks, the sent date and status are no longer populated so that those entries can be re-posted to QuickBooks. Scanning When you scan a document or save a report as a PDF where the folder has a comma in the folder name, the saved file is now displayed with its proper file size. TM Connect When saving an attachment as a document from Outlook, the correct document is now saved with the correct file name. When document auto-naming is turned on in Time Matters, and you select to connect an as a document in Outlook (click the 'Connect As Document' button), the ".msg" file extension is now included in the file name. When you open an in Outlook, and use the connect button to open the form, the form no longer causes the Time Matters application to crash when you attempt to move the form window or copy and paste from the into the form. The "Recent" tab in the Lookup window now displays the recently used matters or contacts when using TM Connect to associate an with a matter or contact. 9 of 10

10 Plans for the Future The following issues may be considered for inclusion in a future release. Form HTML s may lose their formatting and HTML code that is displayed when the is sent, previewed, or printed. Time Entry Advisory Time Entry Advisory only bills records marked as 'Billable.' Product Stability Certain Time Matters functionality, including Merges and Alarms, can cause Time Matters to freeze due to compatibility issues with other third-party applications, print drivers, and Internet browsers. Security When non-administrative users are locked out of Time Matters during database management, those users can still access the Time Matters database by using "Time Matters for Microsoft Outlook." However, in some cases, using "Time Matters for Microsoft Outlook" during the database management process may result in data corruption.
