1 DETAILED SYLLLABUS NEWBURY DESIGN SCHOOL TITLE: Feng Shui for Interior Decorating INSTRUCTOR: COURSE DESCRIPTION: This six modules course is based on the easy-to-understand and down-to-earth Western style Feng Shui. It offers a full appreciation for the ancient art and science of creating positive energy flow in a home. This is a how-to course. You will learn how to apply the principles of Feng Shui to decorate your home then apply what you learned to client situations. The results will be stunning Feng Shui inspired rooms decorated with balance, harmony and good Feng Shui. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn and apply the basic principles of Feng Shui 2. Identify and adjust chi flow challenges 3. At the conclusion of the 6 modules you will apply the basic principles of Feng Shui to create a space with unique visual harmony and balanced chi. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. 2 DETAILED SYLLABUS 2 SUGGESTED TEXTBOOKS AND READINGS Feng Shui for Dummies by Daniel David Kennedy, 2010 This is a Feng Shui primer and has all you need to complete this course. It is comprehensive and thorough guide of Western Feng Shui practice. Interior Design with Feng Shui by Sarah Rossbach, 2000 This book is written as a how-to manual for people looking for ways to make a design statement. It has a focus on interior elements, furniture placement, and color. It starts with the foundation and basic concepts of Feng Shi then uses feng shui to enhance and complement any style of design. Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life by Karen Rauch Carter, 2000 This is a fun book that describes all the areas of the Bagua and what to do. It s light hearted, yet easy to follow and has some worthy ideas. The author s humor makes it quite modern. It is light reading and a fun way to learn Feng Shui. Feng Shui The Chinese Art of Placement by Sarah Rossbach, 2000 This book is considered one of the classics the author is one of Grandmaster Lin Yun s original students and the American credited with being the most responsible for introducing Feng Shui to the western world. This book provides more of a history and intro to the concepts vs. hands on detailed how-to book. This book is great addition to your Feng Shui reference library. Clutter Busting, by Brooks Palmer, This book takes the direct approach to getting rid of clutter by giving it a name outer clutter mental clutter living in the past clutter and although not Feng Shui based, it has what is needed to start moving past the clutter in your life that is holding you back. Clutter Busting Your Life, by Brooks Palmer, 2012 This is part 2 of his first book that just focuses on mental clutter. It goes deeper into the clutter consciousness and what clutter reveals about a person. The stories highlight the difficulties and achievements of the author s clients. The Everything Feng Shui Declutter Book, by Katina Jones, 2004 A how-to feng shui inspired book on how to clear clutter to enhance positive energy flow. Very easy to read and understand with decorating tips included. REQUIRED: Feng Shui Bagua and Map. Purchased for $9.99 from Feng Shui Services of New England. Now using ALL the FENG SHUI AND MINDFUL DECORATING tips you have learned create a room that has both balance and harmony. Photograph the room after the decorating is completed.
