7 SPECIAL PROJECTS 2008 Developed the state of NM s first 40-hour training curriculum for family violence offender providers Participated in the creation of minimum state standards in NM for family violence offender programs Raised the number of trained senior adult volunteer peer counselors from 30 to 300 statewide in NM Lobbied to host the Southwest Society on Aging s annual conference in NM, and served on the conference planning committee to bring professionals from seventeen states into Albuquerque Coordinated and presented a community forum called Navigating Medicare to inform and educate over 250 seniors, disabled adults, and professionals Created and piloted an 8-week Self Esteem psychoeducational group for women in the DV shelter Created and piloted a 6-week Reminiscence psychoeducational group for nursing home residents Developed and chaired the Don and Rik Massengale Pro-Am Benefit Golf Tournament, benefiting the Alzheimer s Association, in recognition of National Alzheimer s Disease Awareness Month Organized, designed, and published a Denton County Aging Resources Directory, combining information on hundreds of agencies and services available to senior adults in a county of over one million residents Developed, coordinated, and presented an intergenerational "Thanks For The Memories" program, honoring Alzheimer's Disease patients and their families at Thanksgiving Designed, implemented, and supervised a student internship program in a retirement community to provide field placements for undergraduate social work students from two local universities.
