2 Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU, formerly known as Northern Jiaotong University) is a national key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education leading in information and management disciplines and featuring traffic and transportation science and technology. BJTU attaches great importance to international students education, and offers preparatory, bachelor, master and doctoral programs in the fields of engineering, management, economics, science, arts, law, and philosophy. BJTU provides Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship and Beijing Government Scholarship opportunities for international students. As one of the universities closest to downtown area, BJTU has more than 1,700 international students at present. The HSK test center was approved by Confucius Institute Headquarter in March, students took the test at BJTU so far. Beijing Jiaotong University started Chinese Language training for internat- ional students since The Chinese Language Training Center, which was established in 1999 provides 3 levels of long-term courses, including Compreh- ensive Chinese, Chinese Listening and Speaking, Chinese Reading and Writing, Pronunciation, etc. Preparatory courses of 1-year Chinese Language Training and extensive Chinese language and culture lessons for the degree students such as Chinese Society Study, Literature and Cross Cultural Communication are also available here.
