2 WHO Programme: Priority Medical Devices In 2007 the World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Government of the Netherlands, launched the "Priority Medical Devices" project to determine whether medical devices currently on the market were meeting the needs of health care providers and end-users throughout the world and if not, to propose research to identify and action to remedy inadequacies or shortcomings. The aim of the project is to bring medical devices to the attention of policy makers and to help guide both industry and government public health spending.

Oncology: High resolution visualization and demarcation of the uptake of specific radiotracers (PET) combined with information on tumor vasculature Identification of possible radioresistant subregions within tumors for radiation dose escalation Early response monitoring for decision making for further treatment including systemic anticancer therapy Better visualization and demarcation of critical normal structures More reproducible methods to assess late radiation-induced side effects following treatment Cardiovascular: detection of CAD using angiography combined with the reference method of PET for the evaluation of myocardial perfusion reserve atherosclerotic plaque characterization imaging of stem cells and evaluation of angiogenesis

11 Medical Technology Assessment in TREADMILL Door de MTA disciplinegroep worden de volgende aaneensluitende stappen gedefinieerd: 1. Hierarchische analyse van klinische categorieen voor de optimale toepassingen van PET-MRI. 2. Hoofdruimte analyse en vroeg (Bayesiaans) economisch model voor het prioreren van de gevonden toepassingen. 3. Workflow analyse van het huidige klinische traject en de waarschijnlijke veranderingen bij toepassingen van de Siemens Biograph mmr en de Philips Ingenuity TF systemen in termen van mankracht en het gebruik van resources. 4. Schatting van diagnostisch volume en fasering van implementatie trajecten.
