1 COMPREHENSIVE INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL NURSES Mentoring Experience Three Expectations for the School Nurse/Self-Assessment To prepare for this mentoring experience, the new school nurse will reflect on education, mentoring and other experiences, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Please use this form at the beginning of ME3 (Pre) and again after completing the ME3 activities (Post) to self-assess skills and knowledge using the listed University of Delaware and Department of Education coursework objectives and your personal experiences since becoming a school nurse. Please consult with one of the certificate instructors or your district s School Nurse Lead Mentor if you have questions. New School Nurse: Date: Pre ME3 / Post ME3 (Circle the applicable status) Instructions: After you complete this Expectations/Self Assessment form as a Pre ME3 assessment, please highlight one or two areas that you decide are important to increasing your knowledge and skills. Then review this form with your ME1 documents to choose the target area for your study in ME3. Make an appointment with your School Nurse Lead Mentor to design your personal plan for ME3. After approval of your plan by School Nurse Lead Mentor, complete the Record of Activities form and return to the School Nurse Lead Mentor. Meet with your School Nurse Lead Mentor to discuss your progress and comfort level. Finally, redo this Expectations/Self Assessment form once again as a Post ME3 assessment and compare your progress from the beginning of the year (Pre ME3). Think about where you still have uncertainty and how you can polish those areas. You are almost there!
