2 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A NURSE EDUCATOR: Advocates and serves as a liaison between the home, the school and the medical community regarding concerns that affect student learning Provides formal and informal health education for students Creates and maintains confidential health records on each student

6 National and State Statistics The % of preschool children who were overweight doubled from 1980 (5%) to 2006 (11%). In % of children and adolescents were overweight Children under 18 with Asthma = 7 million (9.4%)

7 National and State Statistics All children under age 18 that take prescription medication regularly = 12.8% About 176,500 (.22%) people aged 20 years or younger have diabetes. NJ is #1 on the country in overweight and obese toddlers.
