5 OUR SCHOOL Over the last 60 years, UAI Business School has grown into one of the most recognized business schools in Latin America. Currently there are graduate programs in Chile, Perú and the United States. The School has a network of over 13,000 alumni working in over 40 countries. Throughout its history, UAI Business School has been a leader at innovating to adapt to the constant changes in the environment and society. Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI) originated from the Valparaíso Business School and evolved into the dynamic and growing institution that it is today. It offers degree programs in business, engineering, law, psychology, design, and journalism. Over the past 60 years, the Business School has become one of the country s leading business institutions. It currently has over 5,000 students at the undergraduate/graduate levels at its campuses located in Santiago, Viña del Mar and Miami. UAI Business School provides management education to students enrolled in undergraduate, Masters of Science, MBA, and PhD programs. Many of its academic programs and departments are consistently ranked among the best in Chile and Latin America. UAI Business School is committed to educating business leaders for the global economy, to developing and inspiring entrepreneurs and professionals. This is to create value for their organizations and the community. The Business School promotes an environment that foster Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Chile and abroad. UAI has been a pioneer in promoting entrepreneurship from within, through its unique Garage UAI model The UAI Business School is committed to expanding the frontiers of academic knowledge, with research that has an impact in the academic world and it is also relevant to business practices. 9 UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM The pioneering undergraduate program at Adolfo Ibáñez Business School was one of the first of its kind in Chile. UAI Business School has the largest number of applicants in the country. Students can major in Business Administration or Economics. The total number of students is over 3400 (61% male, 39% female). The undergraduate program curriculum combines subjects that are traditionally studied in Business Administration and Economics, such as finance and marketing, along with a solid foundation in liberal arts. This enables students to develop critical and analytical abilities. There are a series of workshops, allowing students the opportunity to participate in projects that involve interaction with the real business world. The School strives to develop graduates who can successfully lead organizations that thrive in a global, innovative economy, and adapt to constant changes in the business environment. The School is committed to raise issues of Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability. The strength of a great business school is based not only in its ability to teach students management fundamentals, finance and other traditional business disciplines, but also it is the School s responsibility to increase student understanding of the conflicts and tradeoffs that sometimes arise from balancing business conduct with the concerns of society and individuals. 11 STUDENT LIFE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY UAI encourages students to actively engage in service-minded activities. Students are empowered to create their own organizations geared toward developing outreach activities and projects that have a strong social impact. The university offers an engaging social and professional life for students. Professionally, students are exposed to important business and political figures from Chile and abroad as guest speakers. Socially, students can access a variety of activities, including fitness and outdoor sports, and common-interest clubs on different areas, such as music, photography, chess, painting, hiking and improv-acting. A number of student associations work on social impact issues, such as:» Trabajos Voluntarios (Volunteering Initiative). Students work during their winter and summer breaks building and repairing homes. Throughout the year they organize diverse activities with youth from economically poorer neighborhoods.» Jonic. This group organizes the National Business Administration Congress. Each year Jonic gathers the best students from the country s most prestigious business schools as they discuss Chile s most pressing economic, political and social issues.» Preu UAI. An organization created to help underprivileged high school students improve their test scores in the National College Admissions Test.» Salta Chile. An organization that provides adult students with the opportunity to finish their high school studies.» Pastoral UAI. An association of UAI s Catholic students.» Animalia. 13 GRADUATE PROGRAMS UAI Business School s graduate programs are aimed at training business leaders who are focused on creating value to society. The emphasis in UAI graduate programs is on developing skills using an active learning methodology. During this process, students are faced by the contrast between a rigorous reflection of ideas which challenge the status quo and the empirical evidence of what happens in modern businesses in a globalized world. In order to have discussions which generate profound learning, emphasis is placed on case studies and real experiences. UAI Business School has 19 graduate programs, which includes 7 pre-experience Master Programs, 5 Executive Masters, 6 MBAs and a PhD in Management. 14 PRE-EXPERIENCE MASTER PROGRAMS As part of the Adolfo Ibáñez University s educational model, students who complete their undergraduate studies can subsequently pursue a specialized Master s degree. Those students who complete the Master s and have majored in business administration or economics also obtain professional credentials as Commercial Engineers. Currently students can choose among programs in Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, Management Science, Financial Engineering, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and International Management. EXECUTIVE MASTERS Executive Masters are post-experience specialist programs aimed at executives who seek to acquire new skills and a deeper understanding of specific business areas. The goal of our Master Degree programs is to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience from a wide variety of industries and areas of specialization. UAI portfolio of programs include: Organizational and Human Resources Management, Marketing and Sales, Business Management, Innovation and Financial Management. PHD IN MANAGEMENT The PhD in Management Program started in 2008 and was the first PhD of its type in Chile. This program is targeted to Chilean and foreign students that look for a quantitative focus as a tool to address the complexities of the business world. In November 2012, the PhD in Management graduated its first class of students.

15 MBA PROGRAMS UAI Business School was the first university in Chile to offer an MBA degree. Currently the UAI Business School offers three different MBA programs in Chile: MBA-International Program, aimed at young professionals who seek growth and empowerment in terms of their own lives and careers. MBA Executive, for executives who have at least five years of work experience and who seek to develop leadership skills in their organizations. Advanced MBA, oriented towards professionals with at least five years of experience in top management positions, and who seek to develop skills to lead broad changes in their organizations. As part of its internationalization strategy, UAI Business School offers MBA programs in the United States and Perú, including dual degrees programs with INCAE and UCLA. Multinational MBA, oriented towards top level executives who seek to acquire the abilities to lead organizations with a global focus (Dual Degree with ESADE). Executive MBA Perú (EMBA-Peru) /UAI-INCAE, aimed at Peruvian professionals with at least 5 years of experience in decision-making positions. Global Executive MBA for the Americas (GEMBA) / UAI-UCLA, aimed at professionals who have an international career and are considered potential leaders within their companies. [ 15 ]

17 FACULTY UAI Business School has a total of 73 faculty under permanent contract. 71% of them hold a Doctoral Degree. The UAI Business School aims to increase the number of international faculty in keeping with the goals of its internationalization process. Currently, UAI Business School has 23 international professors on its regular staff, which corresponds to 30% of our full time faculty, and it includes faculty members from Argentina, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Peru, Spain, United States and Venezuela. In keeping with our global view, the University plans to increase the amount of full-time faculty to at least 40% by This will put students in direct contact with professors with expertise and firsthand knowledge of a wide variety of markets, and thus widening the global perspective at UAI. 21 RESEARCH UAI Business School is committed to expanding the frontiers of academic knowledge, doing research that has an impact not only in the academic world, but that is also relevant for business practices. An essential part of the mission of the Business School at UAI is to achieve international recognition for our research and management programs. Research recognition is achieved through the pursuit, creation and transmission of knowledge. The Business School areas of expertise include Economics, Finance, Innovation/Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, Marketing, and Operations. A good indicator of the School s commitment to research is the systematic investment in research oriented faculty, currently reaching 40 researchers, representing a 33% increase for the period The school finances a majority of research activities by assigning professors 50% of their academic load for research. This investment in human capital and research work has produced outstanding results in terms of the Business School s scholarly contributions. For instance, taking into account ISIindexed journals, the School has shown a substantial increase in the number of papers, reaching an increment of 50% between In addition, a 33% of all ISI articles produced by faculty members were published on the first quartile of the highest impact factor. Some journal outlets include: Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, American Economic Review, Management Science, Operations Research, Journal of Business Ethics, and Harvard Business Review among others. The faculty has also produced in the last years 22 books, 54 book chapters and 127 cases. There is an active schedule of academic seminars run by the school. At the present, there are 3 different weekly seminars: finance, economics and general management. Several international conferences have been organized by UAI business school. Among the, the 27th conference of the Business Association of Latin America Studies (BALAS) in April In November of the same year, UAI organized the 16th annual LACEA-LAMES joint conference. In September 2012 the school organized the annual meeting of the Economics Society of Chile and in November, 2013, UAI Business School was the host of the 7th International Conference on Micro Evidence on Innovation in Developing Economies (MEIDE). 23 RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTERS The Research and Development Centers of the Business School are the connection between theory and practice. The purpose of each Center is to investigate, transmit and form the disciplines of their specialization. BOARD Board, The Strategic and Corporate Governance Center originated through the strategic alliance between the Adolfo Ibáñez Business School, the Universidad Diego Portales Faculty of Economics and Business and EY Chile. Its main purpose is to be a place for analysis, studies, extension and debate of ideas on best practices of corporate governance. FINANCIAL INNOVATION CENTER (CIF) This Center engages in innovative research that examines best practices in the financial sector. Additionally, CIF offers academic courses, seminars and workshops on key topics that are relevant to the financial community. The CIF also monitors new trends and practices in the most sophisticated markets in order to contribute to the development of the financial markets in Chile. CENTER FOR INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND TECHNOLOGY (CIET) The CIET, a joint initiative of initiative of the Business School and the Engineering School offers a space for companies and the university to connect, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship as the engines that drive growth in our country. Its objective is the transference of capacities to innovate. Its areas of action are the formation and transmission of the content, research and development of projects that strengthen the ecosystem of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. [ 23 ]

25 CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS The center objective is to develop high quality research and knowledge transmission in areas that have been identified as critical in order to increase Chilean firms productivity, such as business sofistication and market efficiency. The center focuses on industries such as agroindustry, winerys, and services, such as tourism and retail. CENTER FOR BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY The UAI Centre for Business Sustainability was created to tackle the emergent need for research at the intersection of business, society and sustainability. By developing and delivering world class research and education, the UAI Centre for Business Sustainability expects to contribute to the regional business environment, comprising extant corporations and new ventures, in shaping business models and strategic decisions based on financial, environmental and social concerns. In addition, the UAI Centre for Business Sustainability manages the regional affiliate of the Network for Business Sustainability, NBS Chile. GARAGE UAI Garage was created as an initiative of Business School and Engineering School, in order to be the platform where the ideas and start up projects of UAI students and faculty are reunited and potentiated. This space welcomes business ideas and provides them with training, networking and mentoring, so they could be developed, connected and materialized as innovation and entrepreneurship projects. Furthermore, Garage UAI links the students with the national and international innovation ecosystem, through activities such as workshops, seminars, expert speeches, investment matchmaking and business games. 27 ACCREDITATIONS UAI Business School is accredited by AACSB and AMBA, organizations dedicated to the assessment and certification of excellence in business schools internationally. Accreditation by AACSB and AMBA means that our programs comply with the highest quality standards at an international level and that our teaching, research and assurance of learning mechanisms are aligned with the best practices. The School has also been recognized as a CFA - Chartered Financial Analyst Institute -Program Partner Institution and is one of only four elite organizations in Latin America to have gained Partner status. 29 OUR CAMPUSES Adolfo Ibáñez University has four campuses, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Three of the campuses are located in Chile: one in Viña del Mar and two in Santiago (Peñalolén and Presidente Errázuriz). The University also has a campus in Miami FL, USA. PEÑALOLÉN CAMPUS This campus includes 97 classrooms, 2 auditoriums, 2 libraries, 65 study rooms and 263 offices distributed between 5 buildings. The campus also includes a health club, courts and fields. ERRÁZURIZ CAMPUS This campus is dedicated to professional and executive training. VIÑA DEL MAR CAMPUS This undergraduate campus primarily serves Chilean students from outside Santiago. It includes 25 classrooms, 1 auditorium, 1 library, 22 study rooms and 77 offices, a health club, and a cafeteria.
