2 Certified Nursing Assistants(CNA) are, as defined by law: + people who assist licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. This is direct patient care. Certified Nursing Assistant authorized duties include:

8 You MUST be certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) before assuming CNA duties. You will be eligible to take the (OSBN) certification examination upon successful completion of this course (Course work & clinical). You MUST pass the competency examination within three attempts and within two years of completing the training.

10 Nursing Assistant Course Outline Each class a cohort of 10 students Course includes 80 hours classroom time approximately 10 class days and 75 hours clinical over 8 clinical days. Total of 155 hour course. This includes a mandatory review day prior to state examination then sit for state examination a month after course.

11 Applying for Classes Complete application and attach all required documentation as outlined in the application checklist. Complete applications will be accepted, only during application deadlines, via U.S. mail to: LBCC Nursing Assistant Program 6500 SW Pacific Blvd., MKH-210, Albany, OR OR to:

12 At the end of the application deadline, applications are reviewed and candidates are selected you will receive one of two letters via An Acceptance letter, which will include further instructions. OR A Letter to Retain, which allows us to hold your application for 90 days. This eliminates the need for students to re-apply for future courses.

13 Application Requirements

14 You are required to show proof of having a (TB) Tuberculin Skin Test with a negative result. Attach a copy of your TB results to application

15 Copy of Reading Comprehension must be turned in with your application, you must place in RD80 or above.

16 If you are not a registered student at LBCC, you can take a placement test to find out where your scores are in reading, writing and math. The placement test consists of three tests, $5.00 each. Each test will take approximately 45 minutes per test. LBCC Student Assessment: For hours and more details, please call or visit their website. You must register with the Business Office before taking the test to insure a computer is ready for you. You will get your scores, right after you complete your test. Student Assessment will print out a copy of your results with your name and X number which you must be attached to your Nursing Assistant class application. You must receive a grade of C or higher to pass the Nursing Assistant class.

17 LBCC CPT College Placement Test

18 Transcripts that are from a college other than LBCC, must be Official transcripts. This means that you request them from that college, and that college will mail them to you. The transcripts must be in a sealed envelope stamped Official. DO NOT OPEN THEM! Transcripts from your LBCC WebRunner account must have your legal name printed on the report.

19 The ONLY card that we can accept is the: Healthcare Provid er from the American Heart Association (Refer to example on next page). This card meets Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) requirements. page 3 lists current standards. Copy the front and back of your CPR card that you submit with your application, you must signature it before copying.

20 You must attached a signed copy of the Student Policy Disclosure Agreement.

23 FYI: Students who are completing the Nursing Assistant training in preparation for applying to the LBCC Nursing Program: One of the Minimum Appli cant Requi rements when applying for the LBCC Nursing Program, is that you must have successfully completed the entire Nursing Assistant training and be certified as a CNA, by the OSBN.
