2 Secondary Programs of Study Pinellas County Schools is committed to increased achievement for all students. In that sirit, this Secondary Programs of Study guidebook is intended to assist families with educational lanning for high school and beyond. High School Advanced Scholar Program of Study o This course of study includes a rigorous level of both required and elective courses that best reare students for four-year university admissions (in and out of state). o Students will have the oortunity to be recognized by the Pinellas County Schools and the College Board for outstanding achievement in Advanced Placement Courses. o College Board award designations include AP Scholar- Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. AP Scholar with Honor- Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. AP Scholar with Distinction- Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. State and National AP Scholar designations are also available, see Technical/College Program of Study o This course of study offers the oortunity for students to challenge themselves in secific academic and elective areas of interest and to earn career certifications while in school. Postsecondary oortunities for these students include technical schools and 2-year college rograms. All of Pinellas County middle school students will create an account through their Social Studies course in 7 th or 8 th grade.
