Act as MO-TC for the TB Unit in the area of the DTC & responsible for smooth implementation of the RNTCP and achieving its objectives through subdistrict supervisory staff. 3. Supervise TB Units and peripheral health institutions at least once per quarter. 4. Will act as referral point for patients with diagnostic problem, drug reaction, failure cases etc. Monitoring the patients on treatment, evaluation of treatment outcome at the end of the treatment, identification of smear negative patients who require X-ray examination and defaulter retrieval. Coordinate with other staff to ensure that patients with productive cough for three weeks or more undergo sputum examination and receive containers and necessary instructions. 3. Tuberculosis health visitor s recognised course 8 Data Entry Operator with Diploma / Certificate (6 months or more duration s course) in computer application from a reputed institute. 2- Typing speed of 40 w.p.m in English and local language. 3- Data entry speed minimum 8000 key depressions 4- Should be well conversant with Training course for MPW or recognised sanitary inspector s course At least one year experience in related field 1. Ensure regularity of DOT during intensive phase as well as directly observed intake of at least the first dose of each week during the continuation phase. Also ensure collection of empty blister pack during the collection of subsequent weekly blister packs throughout the entire continuation phase. 2. Ensure DOT for MDR TB patients as per guidelines. 3. Verify address of all new patients and educate patients and their families on the plan of treatment. Arrange time and place for DOT, according to the patient s convenience. 4. Ensure that follow-up smear examinations of sputum are carried out as per the stipulated schedule. 5. Maintain the Treatment Card and record information. Transfer this information to the original Treatment Card at the CHC/PHC during weekly meetings. 6. Ensure that the Treatment Card is given to the STS for entry in the TB Register and the TB No. is entered on the card. 7. Take steps for immediate retrieval of defaulters. During the intensive phase it should be no later than the day after the default, and during the continuation phase within a week of the default. 8. Routine repairs including change of wheels. 1-For district level appointment, Medical officer, STS, STLS should preferably be the resident of same district, where they are to be posted. Residence in district after posting is mandatory. 2-Candidate who has served for RNTCP in any district but was expelled by DTCS/DHS, should not be permitted to apply. 3- DTCS must keep at least 30% additional candidates in waiting list as reserve & same must be valid for one year. In event of any candidate leaving the job or being expelled, within one year immediate appointment could be made from waiting-list / reserve. 14

15 Selection Procedure Initial appointment to all the posts will be either on contractual basis for a maximum period of one year at a time and renewable for one year subject to very good performance. In case staffs are deputed to the posts from State government, the maximum budgetary amount as per budgetary norms below may be sanctioned, provided: Deputed staff meet all eligibility requirements Deputed staff work exclusively on TB control activities Deputed staff are under administrative control of TB Officer State government begins the process of establishing the positions as regular State govt. posts, and Prior written permission from CTBD is obtained Criteria for Selection The posts should be advertised by the State society in at least two leading newspapers published in the state. Applications, if need be, should be short-listed on the basis of pre-determined criteria subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. A Selection committee may be constituted by the Chairman of the Society for short-listing and interview of the candidates. Suitable number of candidates in the panel may be kept in waiting list. The panel prepared by the Selection Committee may be approved by the Chairman of the Society. In the offer of appointment it should be specifically mentioned that the appointment will be purely on contractual basis. The list of selected candidates may be forwarded for information to the State TB Officer and DDG (TB), DGHS, New Delhi. Age Limit Maximum 62 years Period of Engagement One year. This may be extended subject to satisfactory performance. Remuneration The budgetary provision for different categories of contractual staff is as under revised fin norms: 15

16 Transport Accommodation No transport facility is allowed except for STS and STLS. But reimbursement of conveyance charges for official work is permissible. Contractual staff will not be allowed residential accommodation from the state government pool. However, there is no objection if a department has its own pool and desires to allot accommodation from that pool to contractual staff. Power to allot such accommodation will vest with the concerned department of the state government. Leave Entitlement Casual leave Work Termination 12 days per year. All government holidays including restricted holidays as applicable in central/state services as the case may be. This is a full time job. No private practice or part-time employment is allowed. The contract of appointment can be terminated from either side with one month s notice. Contract Agreement All contractual staff will draw a contractual agreement with the concerned Member Secretary of the SHS/DHS before joining the post 16
