4 DesignPro Tools Professional Transformation Suite PageMiner RELEASE NOTES December 06, 2013 These release notes describe changes to the above products and contain descriptions of features not in our documentation. All updates are cumulative; changes made in previous updates are included in this release. This release must be applied on top of the base release 4.00, and will update each of the above products if installed. DesignPro Tools Professional New Features QR Barcode Support Added QR Code (Quick Response Code) barcode is supported. Print Driver Pro DAT Files Created Successfully PrintDriver generates DAT files during conversion to ElixirDoc (EFR) when Document Type: Form option is selected. PFDs Compatible with Adobe Reader for Android The generated PDFs are compatible with Adobe Reader for Android. Move and Copy Features Work Correctly While copying and moving a text object using the Select toolbar, the actual text within the object being copied shows. Line Thickness Displays in DOT Unit When both Always Use DOT Units for Line Thickness and Show Values in Fractional Units are checked, the line thickness displays in DOT unit, and the increment and decrement feature works fine. Note: These two options are available in the Options dialog, Application node, Ruler category. 4
5 DesignPro Manager Deleted Files and Folders No Longer Display The deleted files and folders no longer display in the Resources window when using Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. Previously, the deleted files or folders would disappear from the view only after the refresh operation. PrintDriver Pro Elixir Resources Placed Over Network Mapped Drive Accessed Correctly The files convert properly even if the Elixir resources folder is placed over a network mapped drive during installation on Microsoft Windows 7. Graphics Editor Images Saved All transformation operations applied on an image are saved using available on the Standard toolbar. DesignPro Tools Applications Compressed and Uncompressed Images Handled Correctly The DesignPro Tools applications correctly identify both compressed and uncompressed black and white images properly for an AFP Page Segment (S1*.SEG) format file. Hence, the images load correctly. Parsers AFPDS CCP Comparison Case Take Action Without Comparison Handled Correctly AFP PageDef Object (P1*, P1*.obj) having CCP with single repeating group and comparison case Take Action Without Comparison are handled correctly. Metacode Files Containing Multiple Fonts Convert Successfully The Microsoft Word files containing single line text objects with multiple fonts applied convert successfully. Special Characters Parse Correctly The width of special characters is handled properly during parsing, and hence, the output file generates correctly. ElixirGDF Tag Dimensions Preserved The checkbox Ignore Tag Dimension is added under Tags category of the GDF/ElixirForm dialog. When unchecked, the tag dimensions and justification settings are preserved when the file is opened in DesignPro. LCDS Files Containing Duplicate LineFont Entries Convert Successfully Metacode files containing duplicate linefont entries are handled properly, hence, the correct fonts apply on the text objects. 5
6 Converters AFPDS Highlight Colors Apply Correctly The highlight color selected from the Color category of the AFPDS output format dialog is applied to all objects in an AFP Overlay Object (OVE; OVL; O1*). PPFA Out of Range FIELD LENGTH Handled Correctly The out of range FIELD LENGTH value is handled correctly in VPPFA while converting AFP PageDef object into VPPFA project file. Utilities DPTCLCU.EXE Network License Works Properly The network licensing works fine with DPTCLCU.EXE in command line mode, and hence, the missing license error message no longer displays. DesignPro Tools Professional New Features Install Silent Mode Installation Supported Silent mode installation support is available in this patch and all subsequent patch releases will support silent mode installation. To install DesignPro Tools patch in silent mode, double-click on the SilentInstall.bat file available in silent mode installation package. Note: A system reboot is required after performing silent mode installation. Deleting Objects on Mouse Hover An additional method to delete objects on mouse hovering is available: 1. Hover the mouse pointer over an object in the design area. The object highlights as shown in the image. 2. Press <Delete> to remove the object. OCA Color Model Support Added The color palette is enhanced and OCA color model is available for selection in the Color Selector dialog. Note: The OCA colors can be saved to OGL output format. 6
7 Converters AFPDS Image Resolution Retained The Resolution Same as Source option is added to the Images category. When checked, the image resolution is maintained after conversion. FRM Conversion to FNT Optimized The Optimize Font Size option is added under the Font category to optimize the Elixir font format conversion to Xerox font format by removing the extra white spaces. PPFA Paper Settings Retained The checkboxes XMSize and YMSize are added under Printer Specific in the FormDef category. When checked, the paper settings specified in Visual PPFA, Tools menu, Options dialog, Paper and Printer Settings options are used. Stand-alone Package Millimeters (mm) Available as a Ruler Unit The Millimeters (mm) unit of measurement is available in the Options dialog, Ruler category, Units dropdown list. Coded Font Characters Display Properly The Elixir Coded Font characters display properly in the Soft Keyboard dialog. Resource Map Associating T Code Page with Elixir Fonts The T code page can be associated with all Elixir fonts by entering _Default in the Font Name entry box of the Linked CodePage dialog. 7
8 Converters Elixir GDF KMP Option Enabled for Elixir Coded Font The KMP file selection drop-down list is enabled for Elixir Coded Font. FRM Position and Dimension Settings Preserved The position and dimension settings for small line objects preserve after saving. Parsers (Metacode) Objects with No Associated Tags Convert Properly The files containing objects with no associated tags are handled properly during conversion to PDF format. Hence, the output displays correctly. Install Patch Installation Runs Smoothly During patch installation, the message Please get Spooler service stopped first displays whenever Print Spooler service and its dependent service are encountered. In this case, stop the Print Spooler service and the dependent service manually, and then reinstall the patch. Transformation Suite New Features Image Masking and Trimming Support Added Image masking and trimming support added to the following: AFP Parser PDF and PS Converters Elixir Viewer Parser (Metacode) Inline Images Parse Correctly Multiple Inline images of the same name parse correctly. 8
9 PageMiner Parsers (Metacode) Multiple Fonts Handled Correctly Multiple fonts in a single record are handled correctly. Hence, the text lines up properly in the output. Files with Tags Convert Properly Files containing tags convert properly to PDF format. DesignPro Tools Professional New Features Visual PPFA QR Barcodes QR Barcode support added. Network Network Licensing Optimized DesignPro Tools applications along with the resources (fonts, forms, images) open without any delay when DesignPro Tools Client and License Server are not on same LAN. Correct Message Displays on Saving Correct message Image "ABC" Linking as IMG. displays when a form is saved as a Xerox Form Object (FRM) with Export Images option selected. Note: Export Images option is available in Xerox LPS Resource Writer Resources dialog under Images category. Font Editor Font Parses Correctly Font Editor generates a warning message and continues with parsing if FNM field value exceeds its limit. 9
10 Visual PPFA Colors Preserved Colors applied on fields and records are preserved and display properly for AFP PageDef Object (P1*.obj). Changes to an OVE Saved Changes made to an AFP Overlay Object (OVE;01*) are preserved when a FormDef is saved as an Elixir FormDef (EFD) in Visual PPFA. Memory Release Optimized Visual PPFA is optimized to release memory properly when currently opened PageDefs/FormDefs are closed and hence, files save properly. Note: Previously memory was not released correctly when PageDefs/FormDefs were closed without closing Visual PPFA. The workaround was to close Visual PPFA before opening the next PageDef/FormDef. Transformation Suite Parsers (PCL) 12T Command Supported Support for 12T command is added and hence, Helvetica Condensed font is parsed properly and text is positioned correctly during conversion of PCL file. DesignPro Tools Professional May 15, 2012 Moving Multiple Objects When a set of objects is moved multiple times consecutively using the <Arrow> key, the moves are considered as a single action and this action is logged only once. Hence, the error message "Error during logging undo/redo action. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation. no longer displays. Note: To move objects slightly in one direction, press <Arrow> key; to move objects ten times as far, press <Ctrl> + <Arrow > keys. Visual PPFA Revision Date Updates Properly Revision date/time stamp updates whenever a PageDef/FormDef resource is saved in Visual PPFA. However, Revision date/time stamp does not change when a resource is converted via DesignPro Manager as there is no modification to the resource. 10
11 DesignPro Manager Tile to Font Works Correctly Tile to Font works correctly for all glyph width values i.e. aligned (multiple of 8) or unaligned. Elixir PrintDriver Files Convert over a Mapped Network Drive Files convert successfully over a mapped network drive. Microsoft Word 2010 Documents Convert Properly Microsoft Word 2010 documents convert to ELX format successfully on Windows 7. Converters OGL Output Generates Correctly In a customer specific environment, OGL output generates without extra spaces and text justification applies correctly. PPFA Outline Fonts Created Successfully For Outline fonts, Ratio and Height values are written properly and correct naming convention is followed. In addition, Field/Records render in the design accordingly. PageMiner PageMiner/Elixir Viewer AFP to PDF Conversion AFP files convert to PDF format smoothly. AFP files open in Elixir Viewer and PageMiner correctly. 11
