1 Introduction There will be two major infrastructural upgrades in HKEx s derivatives market in SDNet/1 will be upgraded to SDNet/2 in first quarter of The trading (HKATS) and clearing (DCASS) systems will be upgraded to Genium INET platform in the fourth quarter of The purpose of this document is to present an overall picture of the infrastructures changes to facilitate the Exchange Participants (EPs) and Clearing Participants (CPs) to plan for their SDNet/2 migration in consideration of the Genium INET platform upgrade. The bandwidth requirement of SDNet/2 circuits will be changed in the first quarter of 2013 and further upgrade is required upon the launch of HKATS and DCASS upgrade to Genium INET. What should I do? 2 4. Where can I find my SDNet/1 circuit inventory list? HKEx has sent an SDNet/1 circuit inventory list to each Participant between August and September 2012 to facilitate your planning. The inventory list consists of the details of Participant s SDNet/1 circuits together with the suggested minimum bandwidth requirements for SDNet/2. HKATS and DCASS upgrade to the Genium INET platform 1. What are the considerations on determining the SDNet/2 requirements for the upgrade of HKATS and DCASS to Genium INET platform? You have to decide the number of connections to HKATS and/or DCASS via Network Gateway (NG) and/or Central Gateway (CG). 2. HKEx has recommended EPs to connect HKATS via CG for trading purpose. What is the purpose of connecting via NG? Subject to your operational needs, you will require NGs to - receive market data directly from HKATS via OAPI since no market data will be disseminated via CGs; - connect the HKEx supplied Trading Workstations software (currently known as CLICK Workstations). Please note that Trading Workstations will no longer be supported by EPs should seriously consider whether they should keep Trading Workstations for this migration. 3. Can we connect Trading Workstations via CG? No, Trading Workstation connections are only available via NG. 4. How could I retrieve market data if I do not have a NG? What is the minimum bandwidth requirement to receive market data from HKATS via NG? 7Mbps is the minimum bandwidth requirement for receiving market data regardless of whether subscription is made via OAPI or Trading Workstation. 6. What is the minimum bandwidth requirement to support trading functions via NG? 3Mbps is the minimum bandwidth requirement for each NG to support a maximum of 10 user connections with 5 tps (transaction per second) each for trading purposes. 7. What is the minimum bandwidth requirement for both subscribing market data and conducting trading functions via NG? 10Mbps is the minimum bandwidth requirement for connections carrying both trading and market data functions. 8. What is the minimum bandwidth requirement for CG connections for trading purposes? For an average 1 HKATS EP, 3Mbps is the minimum requirement for 10 user connections with 5 tps each. Of the 10 user connections, it is assumed that no more than 2 copies will be subscribing firm based broadcasts (e.g. BO5). 9. Can we connect to DCASS via CGs? Yes, DCASS Servers and DCASS OAPI applications can connect via either CGs or NGs. 10. What is the minimum bandwidth requirement for DCASS Servers and/or DCASS OAPI connections? Is the requirement the same for DCASS connection via CG or NG? 3Mbps is the optimal requirement for connection of one DCASS Server plus up to three non-report download related OAPI applications. 4 11. Can SDNet/2 host both CG and NG connections under the same pair of circuits? Yes, the minimum bandwidth requirement is the aggregate of the corresponding CG or NG connections for both trading and clearing functions within derivatives market. P. 4
