1 Creating & Optimizing Pages and Posts 1 CREATING OPTIMIZED PAGES In the previous module you saw that I had already created a page for the main term weight loss and set it to be the home page. Creating the pages is the simple part, what we need to know is what page titles we need to have in order to create topical relevance for the most SEO power possible. Let s fall back on the keyword planning tool! For brevities sake let s choose just 3 or 4 topics to create pages for. I m going to use the following topical terms: Fast Weight Loss Weight Loss Plan Quick Weight Loss Healthy Weight Loss
2 NOTE: If you re setting of for a local business you can add the geo modifier to your terms. Example: Roof Leak Denver, or Denver Roof Inspections. Where roof leak and roof inspections are you re topical theme, just add the city modifier.
3 1.1 CREATING OUR FIRST TARGETED PAGE Navigate to the Pages link on the left menu and select add new. Create a page for each of the main terms you ve chosen. In this case I ve chosen the terms fast weight loss, weight loss plan, quick weight loss, and healthy weight loss. In the blank field at the top enter the main term and then just click Publish. Create all the pages and publish them, you ll revisit them later to optimize them with content.
4 1.2 CREATE YOUR MAIN KEYWORD IDEA PAGES Now we can go ahead and create the additional pages for the topics I mentioned earlier. NOTE: If you re doing a local site you can add the City GEO modifier to your main terms. Example: Denver Roof Repair, Roof Inspections Denver, Roof Estimate Denver. Where the main phrase is Roofing Repair, Roof Inspections and Roof Estimate we just add the city to the phrase and then create those pages.
5 Additionally if you are setting up a site for local you should create a Google Plus Local Business listing, you can add some serious SEO power to your site by creating a page for each category you set in the Google Plus listing. Here s an example for a Roofing company, each page is actually a category selected for the Google Plus Business listing with the city geo modifier added. 1.3 OPTIMIZING PAGE/POSTS There is no such thing as a perfectly optimized page or post, however there are some things we can do that will help create SEO value as we add content.
6 1.3.1 PAGE & POST GUIDELINES Keyword Repetition The keyword phrase should be repeated in the content a minimum of three times in your document. The longer the document the more times you can incorporate your keyword phrase (naturally). The keyword phrase should be in the first sentence of the first paragraph and in bold emphasis. It should occur again somewhere in the middle of the content. The keyword phrase should be in the last sentence of the last paragraph of your content if you can work it in naturally. Keyword Variation
7 The keyword phrase should be varied at least once in addition to the 3 repetitions mentioned above. If your phrase is healthy weight loss then vary it by using something like this in a sentence. Weight loss can be healthy. Emphasized Text One keyword phrase in the content should be emboldened and at least one other phrase can also be italicized. Internal Links There should be at least one internal link somewhere in your pages content. An internal link is one that points to another page on the same site that either expands on the
8 content of the page itself or is relevant in some way to the page topic. Your internal links should link naturally to the other pages on your site. Wherever possible you want to link from page to page, keeping it categorically relevant WORDPRESS POSTS When you are creating and publishing post s it s vitally important to remember to places them in the post category that s most relevant to the topic the post is about. The next module is all about setting up your categories and tags and the same principles that we just discussed for a page also apply for posts on your WordPress site. Remember to interlink to other relevant posts whenever possible and use your keyword idea or phrase naturally within your post.
