1 BURNET- ACCESS 2013 ACCESS Primary Health Clinic Network GRHANITE SITE INSTALLATION CHECKLIST This checklist is to be completed by the person responsible for the general practice s IT. It will assist with successful installation of the GRHANITE data extraction tool within the practice. 1. On the installation day, the person must allow at least 2 hours between 9am and 5pm AEST for the installation. They will also need to ensure access during that time to the computer the software is being installed on. 2. General Information : GRHANITE needs to be installed on a PC that can be left switched on overnight so that data extracts can happen after-hours when practice activity is at a minimum. Can a suitable PC be identified? Please see the PC specifications later. This should NOT be the practice database server. Installation will be easier if the machine chosen already has MD3 or Best Practice client software running on it. Does the practice: Yes No Approve remote access? 2 Is the computer: Yes No Less than four years old? The practice database server? (Please note: the computer that GRHANITE is installed on should NOT be the practice database server) CPU: Dual core processor or above? (if the PC is in a virtual machine environment, please allocate two processors or above) A minimum of 2GB RAM? A minimum of 30GB free on the C: Drive? Windows XP SP3 or above operating system? (Windows 8 not supported) How can our support contact Identify this PC: Computer name: Who frequently uses this PC: Terminal Services, Remote Desktop, Citrix, Microsoft RemoteApp or another remote access mechanism to connect to the GP System. E.g. Medical Director, Best Practice. If Yes, please specify the details of how you normally connect and run Medical Director, Best Practice (for Pathology Lab, GRHANITE does not need access to database server): Note: Installing in a Terminal Server environment may require the installation of GRHANITE on the Practice Terminal Server. This can only be determined after consultation between Burnet Institutes nominated Technical Support representative and your practice IT. Although the risks associated are low, Page 2

3 3. Medical software What medical software system and version is the site/practice running? e.g. MD 3.15 / Best Practice Does the practice: Yes No Routinely update the medical software? Operate more than one medical software system? If yes, is it clear which one GRHANITE needs to connect to? Have one or more branch surgeries running separate databases that would need to be interfaced Note: If branch surgeries connect to a central database then all branch surgeries must agree to participate in ACCESS 2013 Project. Please complete an additional checklist if you have one or more branch surgeries running separate databases. 4. Proxy server and web filtering Does the network: Yes No Have proxy server software installed? (e.g. ISA Proxy, Squid) Have a transparent proxy? Have a proxy that requires user authentication? Utilise web monitoring software? (e.g. GFI) Page 3

4 5. Antivirus / firewall Does the practice: Yes No Have antivirus software installed? Have a local non-standard firewall installed? (e.g. Norton Internet Security or ESET Smart Security Have a firewall that will prevent non-standard windows application internet connectivity? Thank you for completing the checklist. This will assist with smooth installation of the software within your practice. 5 Appendix 1: GP system specific information and requirements: Medical Director V3 Information Installing GRHANITE on a server is NOT recommended please identify a suitable user workstation (often the Practice Manager computer, IT staff computer, lab interface computer or a reception computer) don t forget it needs to be left on after-hours. Requirements on the day of installation 1. Please make sure the PC is up-to-date with Microsoft service packs and patches (Windows Update) 2. Administrative access to the workstation will be required 3. The installation will happen via a remote connection 4. If the practice is using a PROXY Server / Web Filtering (Q5 ): If any non-standard configuration, firewall, proxy server or anti-virus software is in-place further information may be required on the day and in some cases, firewalls or other software may need additional configuration. If a specified user account is required for users to access the internet (e.g. because a PROXY server enforces it), a user account for GRHANITE to run under will be required. TO DO (if a user account is required): a) Create a computer user account called GRHANITE with a password. (Note: This is a computer user account not an MD3 account). This account needs local Administrator access and will need to have internet access and access to the database server. In complex environments, the exact configuration may need further discussion and analysis. b) Set this user account to never expire to avoid future password issues c) Have this username and password available on the day of GRHANITE installation Page 5

6 Best Practice Information Installing GRHANITE on a server is NOT recommended please identify a suitable user workstation (often the Practice Manager computer, IT staff computer, lab interface computer or a reception computer) don t forget it needs to be left on after-hours. If the password has been previously set, you may need to contact Best Practice Technical Support if the password is unknown. 5.
