Chapter 2 LDAP Server (Active Directory Configuration) 2 Active Directory needs to be configured to build an LDAP server with Windows Server Configuring Active Directory allows you to centrally manage information such as user data. The scanner accesses the LDAP server to login or display an address book. A DNS server must be set in order to use Active Directory. Therefore, if the system has no DNS server or the existing DNS server is not used for the system, the DNS server function of Windows Server 2003 must be installed with Active Directory. This chapter describes the LDAP server settings, using Windows Server 2003 as an example, on the assumption that the system has an existing DNS server. 2.1 Summary Communicating to the LDAP Server Installing Active Directory Setting Active Directory Network Scanner fi-6000ns Associated Servers Setup Guide 5

2.1 Summary The user data is managed on an LDAP server which supports the X.500 directory protocol service. This section describes the following user data. Optimizing the search base DN level enables the LDAP server to search most efficiently. Set the maximum number of results for LDAP List searches. Set the LDAP list searches timeout delay. 6

2.2 Communicating to the LDAP Server 2.2 Communicating to the LDAP Server The scanner searches user data in the following way: 1. When the scanner receives a user login request, the scanner binds to the LDAP server using the user name and password specified at the time of the request. 2. To check if the user name specified at the time of the login has been registered, it is searched for in the LDAP server. The LDAP server searches LDAP entries using the search base (DN). If the user name has not been registered in the LDAP server, the login request is refused. 2 LDAP Server (Active Directory Configuration) Network Scanner fi-6000ns Associated Servers Setup Guide 7

8.1 Installing NTP Package In order to use the NTP server function on Redhat Enterprise Linux, the ntp package must be installed. Name Version Service Name Daemon Program Configuration files Control script ntp a ntpd /usr/sbin/ntpd /etc/ntp.conf /etc/init.d/ntpd 60

8.2 Automatic Launch of Service 8.2 Automatic Launch of Service After installing the ntp package, the service is not launched automatically for security reasons. Therefore, set the service to launch automatically using chkconfig. chkconfig ntpd on NTP Server 8 Network Scanner fi-6000ns Associated Servers Setup Guide 61

8.3 NTP Server Operation Settings Modify /etc/ntp.conf for full-time connection environment setting, which allows communication with higher level NTP servers continuously. Make the basic settings for ntpd since full-time connection environment allows the ntpd to request to the higher level NTP servers at any time. The following shows an example of /etc/ntp.conf for full-time connection environment. driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift server NTP_server_name 62

Chapter 9 Fax Server The fax server the scanner supports is "RightFax". The fax function of this scanner sends the scanned data as an attached file to the send mail server (SMTP) based on the information set with the "Fax Server" screen of administrative function. When RightFax accesses the receive mail server (POP3) on a regular basis and detects the sent mail, the data is analyzed and sent by fax. Thus, SMTP server and POP3 service must be set before using RightFax with this scanner. For SMTP server and POP3 service settings, refer to "Chapter 3 Mail Server" (page 23). This chapter describes the fax server settings using Windows 2003 as an example. 72 9.1 Installing RightFax For information on installing RightFax, refer to a manual that describes RightFax installation. This scanner uses RightFax Gateway functions for SMTP/POP3 (henceforth referred to " Gateway"). The Gateway monitors specified mailboxes of a mail server. If an is received, it is accessed by using POP3, imported to the RightFax server, and sent by fax. For routing, the scanner uses a method for specifying a fax number in the address description-area. (It is not necessary for customers to be aware of the description area.) Using this routing method lessons need to make changes to the mail server settings. For details about Gateway, refer to "Using RightFax Gateways" and "Simple mailbox with description-area fax information" in the "RightFax Administrator s Guide". Hereinafter, "RFAX" account is used as an example to explain how RightFax uses POP3 to monitor a mail server mailbox to access an account. 64

9.2 Gateway Settings 9.2 Gateway Settings The following shows the procedure for setting Gateway. 1. Create a POP3 mailbox for Gateway. Create a POP3 mailbox to be used exclusively for the Gateway. Gateway monitors the mailbox regularly for s to be sent by fax. 2. Add and configure Gateways. 1. Run the Gateway configuration program. Run the Gateway configuration program in one of the following ways. If you did not add an gateway during the RightFax server installation, you can open the Gateway configuration program from Windows Control Panel. If you already have one or more gateways configured, you can open the E- mail Gateway configuration program by double-clicking the RightFax Gateway service in Enterprise Fax Manager. The " Configuration" dialog box opens. 2. Add a new Gateway. Click the [Add Gateway...] button and select "SMTP/POP3". Fax Server 9 Network Scanner fi-6000ns Associated Servers Setup Guide 65

For " delivery direction", set "Both", "Outbound with Notifications", or "Outbound without Notifications". HINT The following explains the available settings for " delivery direction". "Both" Sending and receiving with notification "Inbound Only" Receiving with notification "Outbound with Notifications" Sending with notification "Outbound without Notifications" Sending without notification When sending, an is sent by fax. When receiving, a fax or image is received as an attachment. Notifications result of sending/receiving transmissions, which are sent as s. When using the scanner, to send data as a fax, it is necessary to set "Both", "Outbound with Notifications", or "Outbound without Notifications". If you have two mail servers (one dedicated to SMTP and one dedicated to POP3), create two equivalent SMTP/POP3 Gateways and set one to perform only inbound messaging and the other to perform only outbound messaging in the following way. Press the [Add Gateway...] button, and set the following. SMTP server In "Server address", set the SMTP server name or SMTP server IP address. For " delivery direction", set "Inbound Only". POP3 server In "Server address", set the POP3 server name or POP3 server IP address. For " delivery direction", set "Outbound without Notifications". For "Server address", specify the mail server name (check if the RightFax mail server name can be set beforehand), or the mail server IP address. For "FROM message", specify the RFAX mail address. For "Default username", specify "DEFAULT", or the user ID of the user sending the fax. For "POP3 mailbox name", specify "RFAX". For "Mailbox password", specify the RFAX password. Check that the checkbox for "Send through DEFAULT user when sender is unknown" has been selected. If the mail header information is not be included in the cover sheet, select the "Remove mail headers" checkbox. Click the [OK] button. 66

9.2 Gateway Settings 3. Startup the Gateway service. For the service list on the bottom-right of the "RightFax Enterprise Fax Manager" window, right-click "RightFax Gateway Module", and select "Start Service", to start the service. Fax Server 9 Network Scanner fi-6000ns Associated Servers Setup Guide 67

3. Set the SMTP server and the fax server address in the scanner. Set the SMTP server. Enter the value set in "Server address" from Step "2. Add a new Gateway." (page 65). For more details, refer to "3.6.6 Setting the Server" in the "Network Scanner fi-6000ns Operator s Guide". Set the fax server address. Enter the value set in "FROM message" from Step "2.
