Try to make a calculation of estimates on the number of Vehicles that need to be tested during your standard working day, by Category: Cars and Light Goods Vehicles Buses, Heavy Goods Vehicles and Trailers Motor Cycles, Tricks and Quads. 3 VLT INTEGRATED VEHICLE TESTLANES First full integrated VLT system was launched in January 1994 at ST Automotive Inspection in Singapore. We still thank STAI for the trust and confidence in VLT as really newcomer in the field of Fully Automated Vehicle Test Systems. STAI have taken the challenge to make use of worlds first Computer driven systems. Up to that date the systems available (most Japanese) were electronic driven systems. Good systems but Computer driven systems are much faster and far more flexible, and most important can be operated by less Inspectors. The VLT system was really unique in 1994, but is still the most advanced Automated Vehicle System in the nowadays world! The STAI Vehicle Stations are still handling thousands Vehicles every week. In 2006 we have added five Chassis Dynamometer Smoke Testers to their Test Stations; again the most advanced and fastest VLT CDST s in the world! Quality Vehicle Testing at STAI Singapore. VLT is one of the few manufactures that control the full chain in Vehicle Test Lanes. VLT equipment is designed and manufactured in our own factory. Design start at our 3D design department, working with Mechanical Desktop / Inventor / Auto Cad. We have our own sheet metal department, cutting plasma and four meter shear, bending sheet metal up to 4.1 meter by 13 mm thick. Our own tooling department where we have CNC Working stations and CNC Lathes for the producing of all components including Load cells and a variety of other components including those for our VLT Motor Driven Rollers. And our own CNC Welding Robots, one of 13 meter length with 6 welding stations, including the welding of the unbeatable VLT Rollers before they get their VLT roller coating known as the best in the entire industry. Standard all our equipment is controlled by our own VLT MPU Controller under VLT Embedded Software (board support package and special machinery software): this means that nearly all our equipment has the same MPU Controller to control the equipment and has all the required factors included. The MPU can run from -10 C up to +70 C. When running colder than -10 C a thermo heater will be installed. VLT has its own Software development departments for Embedded and PC / Server platforms, including interfaces for third party equipment in Etten-Leur NL and Campinas BR. Our System Engineers develop also the interfaces between the VLT Station Server and Large Main frame systems (Turn key Solutions). VLT Integrated Test Lane / Station Server Software includes Tracking Control and Pass/Fail assignment by the system; reports give you all relevant information, including end of day summary, pass/fail reporting, by vehicle type, by item, by inspector, give access from outside via Internet to view activities and equipment status info, by Lane, by Stage, etc. All Password protected. 4 TESTLANE ENTRY CONSOLE The Test Lane Entry Console is the place to enter Vehicle date or select it from the Server and is the beginning of a Vehicle inspection. There is a choice of standard keyboard or a VLT membrane keyboard, both with mouse. The monitor can be standard or with Touchscreen. Above Carriage Inspection can be integrated in the Entry Console or can be set up by it s own 86 keys special VLT keyboard (this still the fastest way of inspection). SUSPENSION TESTER VLT Suspension Testers operate according to the well-known EUSAMA principle. However, the diagnostic options are not restricted to the contents of this specification. In addition to the usual road contact values, the following values are also measured and displayed: the contact value difference, resonance frequency and wheel weight at minimum contact value, LARGE OVERHEAD MONITORS 32 Each test stage has a number of large overhead monitors for displaying instructions for the driver, realtime measurement data and test results. ROLLER BRAKE / ALIGNMENT TESTER for MOTORCYCLES The Roller Brake / Alignment Tester for motorcycles has two rigid hydraulic clamps for clamping the front and rear wheels during the roller brake tests. For the alignment test the rear wheel is clamped with one of the rigid clamps and the front wheel is clamped in a third (movable) clamp. SIDESLIP TESTER The VLT Sideslip Testers are very robust and require minimal maintenance. They can be equipped with drive-in and/or drive-out sensors to assist the Automatic Vehicle Tracking System in the test lane. An optional rigid counter plate guarantees a correct and accurate measurement. The maximum driveover weight of the Sideslip Tester for light vehicles is 5000 kg each wheel. 5 VLT KEYBOARD or TABLET FOR VISUAL INSPECTION Our special VLT visual above and undercarriage inspection keyboards and Tablets are the fastest and best way to conduct visual inspections. From the database the keyboard or tablet receives the items to be inspected. On the keyboard these items are indicated by LEDs. PLAY DETECTOR VLT Play Detectors are operated by means of a handheld lamp with built-in remote control unit. Different movements of the plates are available and can be selected and activated with the remote control. PRINTER CONSOLE(S) Still the fastest way in printing of the Test report and the fitness certificate at the Lane end. Test reports, are made fully in line with your wishes by data coming from the Test Lane Computer. Alternative window stickers or similar items can be printed at this station. Why VLT introduce All New Motor Driven Rollers? For Light Vehicle Roller Brake Testers (RBT). Nowadays RBT s need to Test Electrical Handbrakes in Applied Test. This RBT has to start against Locked wheels, this generates extra high power of the Motor/Gearboxes and drive chains. By using the new VLT Motor Driven Roller solution with high torque planetary gearboxes in combination with direct drive, this problem is fully covered. ROLLER BRAKE TESTER SPEEDOMETER TESTER HEADBEAM TESTER This Roller Brake Tester has motor driven rollers (integrated electric motor and gearbox). This results in a very compact rollerset. VLT uses the most accurate brakeforce strain gauges available on the market. The rollers are coated with a VLT abrasive grit to emulate a road surface and last for many years. The Speedometer Tester has 4 rollers with a special coating. A hydraulic lift between the rollers makes driving in and out of the rollers easy. Optionally the speedometer tester can be extended with a taximeter test, speed limiter test, and speed warning device test. 6 CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER Tandem model This model Chassis Dynamometer can test vehicles with a maximum axle weight of kg for a single axle. The combined weight of a tandem axle set can be kg. FREEROLLER SET A Freeroller Set is used in combination with a Brake Tester or a Speedometer Tester, for testing vehicles with driven tandem axles. A hydraulic lifting system and roller brakes are installed for easy driving in/out/over the rollersets. ROLLER BRAKE TESTER The Roller Brake Testers for heavy vehicles are available with all rollers at the same level, or with the rear rollers raised. All rollersets are constructed for very intensive use and minimum required maintenance. The VLT 4590/MK2 Diesel Smoke Tester measures the opacity of the exhaust gases.
