2 HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY FACULTY POSITIONS IN PRECISION CANCER MEDICINE The Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, and the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMCCC) in conjunction with the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) seek applicants for faculty positions specializing in experimental therapeutics and developing agents within the paradigm of precision cancer medicine. Applicants (who must be either U.S. citizens or resident aliens) must be board certified or eligible in hematology +/- medical oncology with interest and expertise in the evaluation and management of patients in the context of early phase clinical trials. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in patient care in a multidisciplinary environment, fellow and staff training, and clinical research. The UMCCC expertise in solid and liquid tumor experimental therapeutics combined with cutting edge translational pathology MI-ONCOSEQ platforms developed by the MCTP makes the University of Michigan uniquely suited to develop novel personalized oncology strategies utilizing mutation-driven patient selection for investigational agents. Applicants (who must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents) must be board certified or eligible in internal medicine and hematology and/or medical oncology with interest and expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with malignant hematopoietic disorders and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Candidates with documented clinical/translational research experience are preferred. Academic rank and salary will be based on prior experience. The project will focus on the development of a pre-clinical model to test genetically modified human NK and T cells using the Sleeping Beauty transposon system for cancer therapy. Applicants must have an M.S., although a Ph.D. would be preferable, plus a strong background in immunology and molecular biology. A strong publication record is desirable. 3 Director of Hematologic Malignancies Massachusetts General Hospital Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) are seeking an exceptional leader to direct the Hematologic Malignancies Program at the MGH Cancer Center. The position involves clinical and academic oversight over a dedicated faculty, with active programs in all hematologic malignancies, housed in state of the art clinical facilities. The MGH Cancer Center provides integrated, patient-centered care for patients with all forms of malignancy, along with a centralized research protocol office, translational research core facilities, and basic science laboratories. Training and education include a joint medical oncology fellowship with the Dana-Farber/Brigham Cancer Center and research collaborations spanning across the Harvard-wide DF/HCC Cancer Center. The successful candidate will have a current appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor, and an outstanding record of accomplishments consistent with an anticipated faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. The candidate should have a strong track record in clinical care and clinical research, with emphasis on novel approaches to cancer treatment and targeted therapeutics in the area of hematologic malignancies. Experience and demonstrated success in designing and conducting clinical trials with translational components are essential. 4 Department of Health and Human Services Food and Drug Administration/Center for Biologics Evaluation & Research Office of Cellular, Tissue, and Gene Therapies Medical Officer Hematology/Oncology The FDA s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) is seeking a medical oncologist or hematologist/oncologist to serve as a Medical Officer in the Office of Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies (OCTGT). OCTGT's public health mission is to protect and enhance the health of the public through the review and evaluation of clinical studies and scientific data in support of investigation and approval of biological products. OCTGT Medical Officers are responsible for the review of clinical trial protocols and clinical development plans for the development of cell therapies, gene therapies, and therapeutic vaccines for the treatment of adult and pediatric malignancies. Medical Officers also represent the Agency at meetings with academic and industry sponsors of clinical research and at medical conferences. Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country)]. Candidates for Civil Service or U.S. Commissioned Corps must possess a valid license to practice medicine in any state in the U.S. Board Certification or eligibility in Hematology/Oncology or Pediatric Oncology is highly desired.
