1 Head, Department of Anatomy and Radiology The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia invites nominations and applications for the position of Head of the Department of Anatomy and Radiology. There are 10 faculty members in the department: 4 radiologists, 2 gross anatomists, 2 microscopic anatomists, 1 cell biologist, and 1 animal behaviorist. The department has a strong track record for teaching and clinical service. The clinical faculty are responsible for both didactic instruction in the classroom and clinical instruction and service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Basic science faculty are responsible for teaching gross anatomy, embryology, cell biology, and histology. The department offers clinical residency programs in radiology and animal behavior. The department participates in the college wide Master of Science program. The research programs within the department are focused on the areas of respiratory biology and pathogenesis of viral diseases. In addition to individual research programs, members of the department participate in highly successful collaborative efforts with members of the other departments within the College. The successful candidate must have an academic record that qualifies for an appointment as an associate or full professor with tenure. If the successful candidate is an anatomist, the minimum qualifications include a PhD; a DVM (or equivalent degree) is desirable, but not required. If the successful candidate is a radiologist, a DVM (or equivalent degree) and board certification in radiology or radiation oncology by the American College of Veterinary Radiology or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging is required; an advanced degree is desirable, but not required. The candidate will be expected to have administrative experience, effective communication skills, and leadership qualities to encourage faculty and resource development that builds on the current strengths of the department. Additionally, he/she will be expected to actively participate in one or more of the missions of the department within his/her specific discipline.
