3 Feature of the CIS method What is the CIS (Contact Image Sensor) method used in the image scanner? Image scanners can use one of two methods to scan documents CIS or CCD. Graphtec employs the leading-edge CIS method for optical systems in its scanners. Enabling extremely high-resolution and highaccuracy input with large-format scanners, the CIS (Contact Image Sensor) method is a state-of-the-art scanning technology that uses contact image sensors developed solely by Graphtec. CCD method (optical reduction method) Light from the light source is reflected by the document s surface. This reflected light is reflected further by a mirror, directed through a lens, and received by the CCD. Since the CCD reads light reduced by the lens, this method is called the optical reduction method. CIS method (contact image sensor method) The light from the three RGB color LEDs used as light source are reflected by the document. This reflected light is received in turn by the CIS sensor, which performs the actual scanning. The LEDs, lens, and sensor are integrated into a single module. Since these components are all rods of the same length in close contact, this method is called the contact image sensor method. This is the method used by Graphtec. This method is ideal for markets that require precision for applications such as civil engineering survey drawings, urban planning drawings, and apparel patterns. 8 New Document Feeding System In case of the CSX300, the CIS sensors are located between the feed rollers, and the document is held down from bottom side. This method realizes the precise contact of document on the CIS glass when feeding. The clear and focused scanning image is provided with precise contact of document on the glass. With this new mechanism development, the scanning quality becomes very high as same level as the CS600 and CS500 even if the face up scanner. 9 New gray scan mode Current New New gray scan mode will be added. This mode has been scanned only with a green light when scan in the gray scale mode, but it will be scanned with Red/Green/Blue lights, so it will be able to identify the color of Cyan/Green/Yellow series. This mode will be selectable, so you can switch between current method and new method.

11 Consideration for environment The power-saving mode of Graphtec new scanner comply the International Energy Star Program standard.(released April 1, 2007). Energy Star Program When Graphtec Scanner is unused longer than a fixed period time, the scanner automatically enters standby to reduce power consumption (to 5 W or less). RoHS All GRAPHTEC scanners correspond to the RoHS requirements. Recycle The materials for the main unit are recyclable.

15 Scanning Master 21+ Automatic deskewing Skewed documents fed into the scanner are automatically deskewed for skews of up to ±7.1. Available for grayscale, 256-bit color, and full-color data as well as bilevel data. Automatic despeckling Automatically removes speckles as the document is scanned. Any speckles below the specified pixel level are removed for monochrome data. For grayscale and color data, the software applies an averaging function to match surrounding colors.
