It is currently being used in university veterinary teaching hospitals, large referral practices, emergency practices, equine practices, mixed practices and multiple site practices. With VETSTAR your software investment is protected and your future secure! Purchasing a Veterinary Computer System Purchasing a veterinary computer system is a daunting task. It involves a financial commitment, a time commitment, and analytical skills as you evaluate the many different offerings available in the marketplace. 3 Electronic Medical Records For hospitals whose goal is electronic medical records, VETSTAR has no equal. Electronic medical records mean staff can review patient records without having to access paper folders. VETSTAR provides many features that allow a busy hospital to maintain electronic medical records without adversely impacting staff and doctor performance. 4 Customizable Client / Patient Processing Screen Displayed below is the Client / Patient Screen (Home screen). Patients are selected on this screen, and much of the daily activity commences from here. Some of the exciting features are described below: Icons The majority of these icons open user-defined selection lists when clicked. For example, clicking the Client Icon displays tasks specific to client based tasks. The functions that display when the icon is clicked are determined by You! The list can be as long or as short as you desire. The key is that with one or two clicks you can navigate anywhere in VETSTAR. Some icons like Charges, Payments and Communication go directly to the appropriate screen for data entry. The Favorites icon lists works similarly to the Favorites button on you Internet Browser. 3

5 Examination Templates You can create an unlimited number of examination templates in VETSTAR, and each doctor can design their own. The templates include user defined examination areas. The areas can be setup to always display with the template, or available as a selection by the doctor. The following screen displays a sample examination template. Sample Examination Template While on the screen the user can change the result, access the problem file, open a comment window, access the charge screen, enter treatment information and change the patient s weight. The doctor can click on the comment icon to enter exam comments as follows: 4

6 In just a few clicks, users can create a complete and customized medical record. Below is an example of a Visit Summary Report. 5

7 Problem Based Processing VETSTAR supports automatic processing based on specific problems. Productivity is greatly enhanced by linking the typical profile for a given problem. This profile is then presented to the doctor each time the problem is entered. For example, assume the problem mucus is entered in the patient s master problem file as indicated below: Master Problem Screen As soon as the record is saved the profile created based upon predefined options determined by the end user. If the doctor leaves the three items checked the following actions occur: The comment section Examination Comments opens populated with the template entitled Mucus - Antibiotic. This is then edited by the doctor if needed. The pick list of client instructions is presented for the doctor for selection. These then post to the comment area Client Instructions and are presented to the doctor for further editing if needed. A procedure work list displays for the doctor to select those procedures that should be invoiced. 6

8 Again, a complete and customized medical record has been created in a matter of seconds. 7

9 Treatment Scheduling You can call the Treatment Scheduling window at any time. It is designed to allow doctors to enter a treatment once, with the following processing taking place automatically: Frequency and number of days are scheduled Updates invoice when treatments are completed Updates medical record that treatment was completed with date and time Supports comment entry for doctor review Lists treatments remaining in medical record Treatment Broadcasting refreshes the Treatment Scheduler every minute and is designed for display on large screens in the treatment area. 10 Integrated Accounting VETSTAR is the ONLY veterinary system with a fully integrated suite of accounting modules including: General Ledger Inventory Purchase Order Accounts Payable This enables a hospital to operate as a business with business controls, reporting and accountability. This is critical to the success of any hospital in this era of increased competition. An integrated accounting environment greatly reduces staff time and accounting expense, and allows you to monitor your business in a timely fashion.
