2 BUSINESS-VET COOPERATION Stories: 3 short presentations of case stories of successful business-vet collaboration 1. TKNIKA, Spain, Jose Louis FERNANDEZ, Director for International Relations TKNIKA is a unique umbrella organisation for education and training providers in the Basque region, working closely with employers to develop new models e.g. for training of trainers to spur growth and innovation in SMEs. 2. Training Education Network, Greece, Sophie DIMA, Training Coordinator The organisation works with training providers, NGOs, companies and social partners to reduce unemployment. Among other activities, the Network carries out studies on the needs of the labour market, contributes to the development of training materials and also provides training for the trainers. 3. While there are more people in education than ever before and young people struggle to find jobs, companies report that they have difficulty finding people with the right skills. 4 PARALLEL WORKSHOPS: KEY POLICY ISSUES 14: (Coffee break 16: ) The workshops will be highly interactive, giving participants the chance to get a real understanding of how to make approaches work, and generate new and innovative project and partnership ideas. Workshop I: VET meeting skills needs in growing sectors In this workshop we will explore how VET providers and industry and service sectors can work better together to ensure skills provision in line with labour market needs, in particular for small companies, and how European policies and funds can help. Workshop II: Business and VET working together on entrepreneurial skills In this workshop we will explore how business and VET providers can partner up to develop the entrepreneurial skills needed by the European workforce. Workshop III: Developing apprenticeships in companies In this workshop we will explore how VET schools and companies can work together on apprenticeships, how apprenticeships can be a worthwhile investment for businesses and what support structures can help smaller companies get on board. 19:00 21:00 Forum Dinner 4
