6 Purpose of EA Follow-up Monitoring i EA Follow-up Monitoring to: Verify the predictions of the environmental effects of the project and the assumptions used in predicting effects Confirm the effectiveness of the mitigation measures Identify need for additional mitigation Program reviews provide opportunity for adaptive management EA Follow-up monitoring ends once predictions verified 5

7 EA Follow-up Monitoring i Program (1) Integrated with Environmental Management Plan Includes annual reporting of results of EA follow-up monitoring and results available to public Provides for annual assessment of performance and evaluation of core components every five years Includes contingency plans to address unforeseen effects or correct exceedances, as required OPG responsible to implement the program 6

19 Term of EA Follow-up Monitoring i EA follow-up monitoring program encompasses baseline, follow-up and monitoring to verify predictions and compliance Long-term intent is to discontinue EA follow-up monitoring once predictions and effectiveness of mitigation demonstrated Regulatory monitoring expected to continue throughout the operating life of the Project 18
