4 STUDENT DESIGN: LEANNE ABRAHAMS Course Requirements Previous experience in the design field is not necessary to enrol in the Interior Design Course. Our course has been developed for all individuals, whether they wish to practice interior design as a hobby, expand their existing knowledge, or become a working professional in the near future. You will be required to submit diagrams and illustrated plans during the course. A pencil, ruler, and paper are recommended as a minimum to complete these tasks. While this modern digital age provides us with a variety of fantastic tools for Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), which we will introduce you to, their use is completely optional so you can learn and experiment with these at your own pace. Aside from that, we only require that you have access to a computer and internet connection, and that you bring all your enthusiasm and passion to succeed in what you love. The student site, course materials and tutor can all be accessed via a Mac or PC, and will also function on all popular mobile and tablet devices.

6 STUDENT DESIGN: LEANNE ABRAHAMS Course Structure The Diploma of Interior Design consists of 12 modules and assignments. These require you to complete both theoretical and practical exercises to hone your skills in, and understanding of interior design. During the course you will complete an in depth renovation project, which will make you more aware of the elements that make up fantastic interiors. Some of the key areas covered are: Floor and lighting plans Furnishing Fabrics Window treatments Lighting Upholstery and accessories Decorative and design styles Colour schemes Mood boards Preparing newspaper ads Producing a scope of works for contractors Creating preliminary costings for clients All students are provided with 12 months to complete the course. This allows you to plan and submit assignments at your leisure, fitting them around any work and life commitments.

7 Further Study Options The Interior Design Institute offers a wide range of optional Advanced Modules, which can be purchased should you wish to further your studies: AutoCAD For Interior Designers Business, Branding, Marketing and Social Media Kitchen & Bathroom Design Commercial Design Setting Up Your Own Website Home Staging & Property Styling To take part in these Advanced Modules you will need to enrol in the Diploma course of Interior Design and complete the initial modules before the Advanced Modules will be available to you.
