6 Robust switch system The 4CE MIG welding torches have a robust switch system, which extends the lifetime of the switch considerably. The handle is designed in such a way that the switch can be pressed from different positions. The 4CE MIG welding torches comes with a micro switch as a standard. In addition, the micro switches are equipped with high-quality contact points, which allow them to continue to operate perfectly, even in extreme differences in temperature. An extended switch (lever switch) is optional. 4CE MIG welding torches are available with various interchangeable modules: A B C A - interchangeable module with remote control function and LED display (in various Ohms). 7 Solid Swanneck The durability of the 4CE MIG welding torches is to a large extent determined by the execution of the Swanneck. The Swanneck is integrated into the handle in such a way that it will not turn inside the handle, even after intensive use. Additionally the Swanneck is partially nickel-plated on the water-cooled models and even completely nickel-plated on the gas-cooled models, which is significant in reducing wear and tear after frequent removal of the gasnozzle. tips. These are manufactured from a material which, combined with the 4CE tellurium tipadaptor, can have a lifetime up to five times longer than the standard copper contact tips. The 4CE contact tips are universal for the 7XM MIG welding torches, but sets are also available for various other brands of MIG welding torches. Furthermore the Swanneck on the water-cooled models is executed in 18 mm ø (instead of 16 mm ø), making it not only more solid but also the available surface for heat dissipation will increase considerably. Better cooling Our engineers have developed a new cooling channel system for the 4CE Swannecks, which enables better heat dissipation so that the welding torch cools faster at higher amperages. Test results show a 15% better cooling capacity compared to using traditional Swannecks. 4CE contact tips 4CE MIG welding torches are available with optional 4CE MIG 4CE MIG sets 7XM-15S can be used at higher amperages In the gas-cooled 7XM-15S, the Swanneck is Teflon insulated between the aluminium outer tube and the brass inner tube. 8 Microliner welding torch In order to enable welding at distances longer than 5 metres from the welding machine, Translas now supplies the new 7XM torches in combination with a new wire transport system: the 7XM-ML torch. This new system named Microliner (ML) transports the welding wire over longer distances with almost no friction. The use of this wire transport system in cable assemblies longer than 5 metres means that the distance from the welding machine is no longer a limitation. This increases the welder s work radius considerably, especially in spaces which are difficult to access, and you no longer have to keep moving the welding machine or wire feed unit. Furthermore, the system makes heavier, bigger pushpull torches obsolete. This new Microliner wire transport system is built of plastic segments, in which the wire is transported over plastic rollers with hardly any friction. Translas is integrating the new system in its cable assembly for welding wire up to 2 mm Ø. The new wire transport system replaces the standard outer liner and regular liner in the Translas concept. One significant advantage is that the segments of the Microliner can be replaced at a later stage and the complete liners can be re-used. Using the Microliner allows up to 10 metres to be welded without problem with all welding wires up to Ø 2 mm, even with aluminium, using a standard air or water-cooled Force hand-held torch. This means that a push-pull torch is no longer required. Advantages of the Microliner wire transport system: can be used in standard torches; nearly friction-free wire transport over longer distances; robust and durable system; flexible liner constructed from smaller segments; complete liners re-usable, even after repair; individual segments are replaceable, so that any desired length up to 10 metres can be put together; makes heavier, bigger push-pull torches obsolete. The life time of the Microliner is extremely long and when the welding torch is worn it can be fitted into a new welding torch. 9 7xm-450 / 7xm-550 Small, light and manoeuvrable In order to be able to access small and difficult spaces Translas has developed a unique, water-cooled MIG welding torch within her 7XM range for manual welding at high amperages. The starting point for this was to develop a small, light and highly manoeuvrable torch with a high cooling capacity at the gas nozzle. The new, water-cooled MIG welding torch is available in 450 and 550 ampere models. Translas has developed a unique structure and cooling system for the swan neck on the 7XM-450 and 7XM-550, combined with a small gas nozzle. This allows the new MIG welding torches to have a smaller and lighter design despite being able to weld at higher amperages. a cooling flow of 1.85 litres per minute ensures rapid heat dissipation. This means that the swan neck does not heat up unnecessarily and has the nozzle cooled-down enough that it can be held within 1 minute without protection. Above all a better cooling is giving a better welding appearance and a longer lifetime of the consumables. Heat tests, carried out by an independent supplier of welding wire, have shown that the temperature at the M8 contact tip of the 7XM-450/550, measured for 5 minutes at 300 amps, 30 volts and a protruding length of 18mm is only 145 C. This value is 250 C or higher in comparable MIG welding torches. The 7XM-450 and 7XM-550 in these amperages are also the smallest and lightest on the market when compared with similar MIG welding torches. That makes this new welding torch ideal for heavy-duty welding work is small, difficult to access spaces while the torches can also be used as an all-round water-cooled torch. The unique cooling concept for the 7XM-450 and 7XM-550 MIG welding torches allows levels up to a maximum of 500 amperes with a very short cool-down time. 11 robotic torches with pneumatic shock-sensor system Specifically for use on welding robots Translas has developed, in collaboration with Valk Welding, a Robotic MIG and TIG welding torch with an integrated pneumatic shocksensor system, a quickly exchangeable Swan neck, a patented wire-clamping mechanism and a cable assembly with optimum protection. The new robotic welding torches have a high cooling capacity and, as a result, are suitable for fully continuous use and can also be used in narrow spaces without any risk of overheating. The pneumatic shock-sensor system immediately shuts down the welding robot in the event of pressure loss after a collision. Apart from protection against damage and deformation due to collisions, corrections in the programming are from now on no longer required. As a result of this, downtime during the robotised welding process is minimized. 14 TMC Connection Translas has developed a unique universal connection, Universal TIG welding torch connection for the most widely used makes of TIG welding machines. the TMC, allowing to connect its TIG welding torches to the most widely used brands of TIG welding machines without having to convert them. As a result, companies with several makes of TIG welding machines no longer have to purchase separate TIG torches for each welding machine, allowing them to achieve considerable cost savings, leading to amongst others lower stocks. The aim is that the TMC is going to become the new standard. Manufacturers of TIG welding machines market their with own specific TIG welding torch connections. As a result, TIG welding torches are always supplied with a specific machine connection, suitable for one make of welding machine. Extension packages The basic package, the TIG welding torch with a TMC connection, is supplied in standard lengths of 4 and 8 meters. For use over longer distances, an 8-meter extension package is available, which can be used for both water-cooled and gas-cooled systems. 17 Ball joint A ball joint has been used at the back of the handle to create flexible movement of the welding torch. To reduce wear, the outer sheathing over the first 50 cm behind the handle has been reinforced with additional leather protection. A connection set has been developed to connect the leather to the neoprene outer sheathing, which can be easily removed for repair purposes. 18 QuickConnect system for our TIG torches. This system allows a fast fitting and exchange of all types of switches as well as connector plugs. This means that the current printed boards for the different switch types and the switch cable and plugs will change. The connecting plugs are fitted as standard with a piece of cable fitted with a moulded plug. The printed boards have a plug connection: the standard six-core switch cable has a plug at both ends. A locking clip is fitted over the two plugs after the connection to protect against unintentional loosening. A locking clip on the printed board side ensures that the connector is protected against pulling loose. The connecting plugs are fitted with a standard piece of switch cable which are fitted with a molded plug as well. Therefore, not only does this new Quick Connect system allow the connection and changing of every kind of printed board (1 to 4-button switch and with potentio-meter) without soldering, but also the connecting plug. This system is universal and completely plug & play. Integrating this new Quick Connect system greatly increases its ease of use.
