2 Db Primary is our new platform for learning. It will be used across the whole school and a new and exciting way for children to access their work as well as other activities. Please follow this guide to support the transition from Fronter to DB Primary. Logging on Each child and parent will get a separate login. The following link will take you to the website. This will also be found as an icon on our school website. Once you have entered the link, the following page will appear: To ensure you are on the correct web link, Longfield Primary school name will appear. At the top of the screen you will need to enter your login details. Once you have entered you details, you will be asked to create a new password.

3 Parent Page What you will see Depending on how many children you have in the school, their name and activity will appear on your homepage. club. From this you can see what work your child has been set and any updates which have been made to class or community (groups) your child belongs to. 5 Change your password again. ***If you decide to make changes, please press the save changes button and it will take you back to your homepage. Example: If you now click onto the icon for you child, it will take you to your child s page. You will not be able to edit anything on this page but will be able to see what it looks like, have access to their calendar, their blog, their rewards and their work.

6 This is what an example page would look like: The whistle icon at the top of the page is mainly for children. If they have received something inappropriate from another student, they can use this icon to alert the class teacher. A notification will appear with who has pressed the alert button and what specifically was sent/said. Child Page This is an example of a key stage 2 profile. There are a variety of different icons. The key stage 1 is very similar, however just simplified. Settings Change details To get to the settings page, simply click the icon with the clogs settings. Children can add a nickname and upload an image instead of having the smiley face.

7 Learning Library This area allows children to access different activities linked to new curriculum and variety of subjects. Teachers may also specifically set activities for children to complete. This will show on their home page as work to do. Rewards Teachers can reward children with a variety of rewards during lessons or simply as homework rewards. Once again this will appear on the child s homepage. My Work This is the area where children can see if they have work to complete such as homework. This space can also be used for children to upload any files, images or videos they want. For example, this could be a useful space for project work.

8 My Blog This area is place for children to create their own blogs. This could be specific to certain communities or for their friends to see. As well as adding their own blog, children can also see other blogs. Once again this will appear as a notification on the homepage. Calendar The calendar can be updated by children but main use will be for staff members to add dates for children to see. For example, reminding children of school trip, welcoming back from holidays or when to bring PE kits in. s This area will allow children to learn how to in safe environment. This can be to other class friends or people in their communities. All mail sent is moderated by class teacher so nothing inappropriate is being sent between children. Once again, children will be notified if they receive mail.

9 What are Communities? All the children belong to a class, which on DB Primary is called a community. However, with Longfield school offering a variety of clubs and other opportunities to share skills, children can also be a part of other communities created by staff. For example, this could include after school clubs, house captains, school council etc. On the child s homepage they will be able to view which communities they belong to. From this they can also add to their friends list. Example of what a community has to offer when clicked on: This is the same for all communities the children belong to. Children will spend ICT time to explore DB Primary and class teachers will guide them. However, if you do have any further questions about how to use DB Primary, please do not hesitate to ask class teachers.

10 Guidelines for children Please reinforce these Children's Guidelines with your child at home. Anything your child puts onto DB Primary can be seen by members of staff. Sensible behaviour when using the s / blogs or forums. Make sure that any pictures you upload (profile picture, or pictures in posts) are suitable for a school audience. Keep your personal details, password safe. Write in full sentences. Sensibly express your opinions in forums. your friends outside school time. Share links to sites by posting them in your blog / forums. Whistle alerts: Reporting inappropriate content Longfield Primary School Primary Learning Cloud Inappropriate content can be reported to staff at the school by clicking on the whistle icon. A pop-up will appear to allow an explanation to be entered. The alert is sent to delegated DB Primary whistle monitors at the schools. The Whistle Monitor ensures that children are able to use DB Primary in a safe and secure way. 11 What is DB Primary? DB Primary is our school s Primary Learning Cloud. The Primary Learning Cloud is a safe area on the internet for pupils, and members of our school community, to share information and access a wide range of learning resources, anytime, anywhere. How to log into DB Primary You can find our school s DB Primary login page on the school website, or via this address: [ DB Primary is specifically designed to improve digital literacy standards for primary school children and support the teaching of online safety. Included are online activities for Maths, English and Computing, along with Forums, Blogs, shared spaces and creative online tools. Practical benefits for pupils: DB Primary will enable pupils to: Access learning materials outside lesson time and from any location Store work and notes online for use in homework and revision Work at their own pace and with a wider choice of learning styles Improve their ICT skills and online management Participate in live discussions and forums with other students and teachers Practical benefits for parents & carers: DB Primary will enable parents and carers to: Support children with learning which takes place outside school Access their child's personal home page to keep track of their work and the curriculum Engage with wider school issues through online communication tools Become active partners with the school If you do not have a computer with internet access, please let your child s teacher know. Some activities added to DB Primary can be made available as a paper copy. When on the login page, just enter your DB Primary username and password*. The school will provide you with these details. Please note that DB Primary does not filter the internet. You need to have your own internet firewall and parental controls set up.
