FOR DETAILED SAFETY INFORMATION, PLEASE READ THE RESPECTIVE MANUALS FOR THE PUMP STATION, PUMP AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.

2 Important Start by checking the contents of the delivered goods against the delivery note! The parts are packed in separate boxes. Scope of delivery Flygt Compit part no is delivered with the pipe and valve arrangement ready assembled. The items listed below are packed separately together with the pump station: 1. Class A cover in concrete. 2. Discharge connection pipe to pump. 3. Extension key to gate valve incl. chain. 4. Pump control unit FGC 211 for indoor use (IP 54) 5. 2 x float switches type ENM Pipe socket 160/160 mm 7. Pipe reduction 160/110 mm 8. Compression fitting 63/50 mm for PE pipe 9. Seal sleeve for cables 10. Power cable connector box. Part no Separately delivered by contractor: Pump MF , impeller code 210. 4 Transport and handling The Compit pump station is transported upside down on a pallet. Before the transport locking device is removed, a rope must be fastened around the base of the pump station. Follow the illustrations below to manoeuvre the pump station into an upright position. 2a 2b 2c 2d 2e When the pump station is in an upright position, check that the tank and the internal pipe system are in good condition and that all fasteners are securely tightened. Do not install the pump/s before the pump station is properly installed! P 4

5 Installing the pump station The responsibility for installing the pump station is always borne by the contractor. General guidance according to EN 976-2:1997. The dimensions in the sketch below should be regarded as minimum dimensions. (A). When the pump station is installed in loose clay or silt, the crushed backfill must be protected from mixing by using a fibre cloth. Never install the pump station in mud or peat! The depth of the excavation work must be 300 mm deeper than the planned installation level. The pit must be made at least two meters wider than the diameter of the pump station. (B). A bed of crushed material approx. 300 mm thick with a grain size of 2-36 mm must be laid on the bottom of the pit. Compact and level the bed before the station is lowered into place. Check that the pump station is standing straight in a vertical upright position. Backfill with the same type of materiel up to 700 mm above the bottom. Compact after each 150 mm layer. (C). The remaining backfilling must not contain stones larger than 50 mm. This filling must be done before the ground water level is allowed to rise. For detailed information, please read the manual specific to the pump station. P 5

6 The depth of the excavation work must be 300 mm deeper than the planned installation level. A bed of crushed material approx. 300 mm thick with a grain size of 2-36 mm must be laid on the bottom of the shaft. Compact and level the bed before the station is lowered into place. Check that the pump station is standing straight in a vertical upright position. Backfill with the same type of materiel up to 700 mm above the bottom. Compact after each 150 mm layer. P 6

7 Pipe connections Connecting the inlet pipe A. Remove the protection cap from the inlet socket. B. Connect the pipe socket 160/160 mm and the adapter 160/110 mm to the inlet. C. Turn the adapter to correct position/level. A. B. C. P 7

8 Connecting the discharge pipe The outlet pipe on the pump station is made of PE (40 or 63 mm) and can be connected to the discharge network with a compression fitting (63/50 mm) or welded with electro-fusion jointing. Other dimensions of compression fittings (40, 63, 75 mm) can be ordered separately. If the discharge piping is not positioned on a frost-free level, we recommend using a heating cable or an insulation culvert around the piping. Connecting piping for cables and ventilation The station has two sockets for connecting piping for cables and ventilation. They are positioned at 90 angles to the in/outlet. Pipe for cables/ ventilation set at an angle The 110 mm pipes for the cable/ventilation are connected to the sockets. (These pipes are not included in the delivery.) When using an extension shaft, the cables are connected with a special socket on the extension shaft see further on in this manual. P 8

9 Ventilation (if applicable) In normal cases, the ventilation is taken care of by the in-coming sewer pipe. For installations that require a ventilation pipe, the Compit pump station has sockets for separate ventilation. Connect a 110 mm pipe as shown in the picture below. (Please note: these pipes are not included in the delivery.) P 9

10 Assembling extension shaft (if applicable) Before attaching the extension shaft, check that the guiding band is mounted on the valve package inside the station. A. Cut the extension shaft to required length at one of the O-ring slots. B. Place the O-ring in the second O-ring slot on the extension shaft. Coat the O-ring with soap or grease before assembly. C. Insert extension shaft mm into the pump station shaft. Please note: Position the hooks for the level regulators and cables inside the extension shaft in such a way that they will not interfere with other equipment in the station. D. To prevent the extension shaft from moving during backfilling, place two pieces of wood as shown in figure below. Photo P 10

11 Insulating the pump station Ground insulation The pump station is protected from freezing by a layer of ground insulation made up of 70 mm cellular plastic (D), which should be positioned about 300 mm below ground level. The insulation should extend 0.9 m from the pump station if the backfill is of finegrained soils (such as silt or sand, with a grain size below 2 mm), and at least 1.8 m if coarse-grained soils are used (i.e. gravel and stone, with a grain size above 2 mm). If the pump station will not be in use during the winter, the cover should also be insulated using the separately delivered cellular plastic cover (E). The cover should be positioned inside the upper part of the shaft of the station or the extension shaft. P 11

12 Electrical connections All work should be performed by a qualified electrician. Local codes and regulations shall be complied with. Before starting the work, check that the power supply cable is not connected to the mains. Check that the voltage and power frequency of the electrical supply correspond with the rating on the data plate on both the pump and electrical control panel. Read the manuals for the pump and other electrical equipment before you start the installation. Pass the pump motor cable and level regulator cables through the cable duct from the pump station to the control cabinet. Make sure that the length of the cables inside the station are long enough to enable service and maintenance of the installed equipment. Read the wiring diagrams carefully. Mount the cable from the ENM-10 level regulator to the cable holder and hang them on one of the hooks provided inside the pump shaft. If junction boxes are used, make sure that they are well sealed and protected against moisture inside the pump station. Recommended positioning of level regulators in pump station Cable holder A package with two Flygt ENM-10 level regulators is included in the delivery. One is used to start the pump and one to trigger an alarm for high water level. When the start-level regulator is triggered, the pump starts and will then operate during the pre-set time programmed via the FGC 211 control cabinet. Recommended positioning/height of the start-level regulator is at the level of the lifting handle of the pump. The alarm-level regulator is positioned approx 100 mm above the start-level regulator. The positioning of the level regulators are easily adjusted with the cable holders. The FGC 211 control panel P 12

PLEASE NOTE: Some versions of FGC 211 have been pre-configured for specific markets. Ask your supplier if you need to adjust any settings. 2. Display 5. High Level LED 6. Pump Status LED 4. 14 Assembling the pump Assembly of discharge connection Remove the threaded protection cap from the valve package inside the station. Then apply thread sealant and screw the discharge connection unit on the pump outlet. The sliding bracket should be in line with the pump as shown in picture beside. 15 Commissioning Before start-up: Check the direction of rotation of the pump impeller. Clean the sump from debris and stones. Check that the system is water tight. Check the control panel settings. Open the gate valve inside the pump station by using the key extension handle. Make sure that other valves in the system are open. Start the pump and make sure that the water level in the station begins to drop. Rotation direction of impeller should be clockwise when seen from above the pump. If it turns in an anti-clockwise direction, do the following: If the motor is 3-phase, the electrical connections in the control panel must be altered by a qualified electrician. If the motor is single phase please contact your Flygt representative. Maintenance A yearly inspection and cleaning of the level regulators are recommended. Follow the operation manual for the pump regarding inspection intervals. Always close and lock the cover before leaving the pump station. P 15
