5 FastDoc Capture 1.1 Introduction Introduction to FastDoc Capture Welcome to FastDoc Capture, Datacap Inc.'s document capture software product that performs optical character recognition (OCR) on scanned documents, automatically creates index entries for those documents, separates pages into documents, and exports index data and document images, all in an easy-to-install and use package. This solution offers OCR with validations that you define, and out-of-the-box integration into Microsoft SharePoint. If you don't use SharePoint, FastDoc Capture lets you output index data in flat text files and export documents anywhere in your network. FastDoc Capture's automated capture of index data from machine-printed documents lets you eliminate tedious and error-prone manual data entry. FastDoc Capture captures index data from text and Code 39 Barcodes, remembers document types, the variations within each document type (for example, individual vendor's invoices within the Invoice document type), and data field locations after processing them once. There is no setup of complicated templates or programming required. FastDoc Capture delivers essential document capture functionality that accelerates your scanning and indexing of records, contracts, shipping paperwork, healthcare and government documents. FastDoc Capture works with all document scanners and multi-function peripherals that use the TWAIN driver, processes previously-scanned and faxed images, and provides an attractive and intuitive user interface for scanning, document separation, and data verification. FastDoc Capture can be run in two modes, Administrator mode and Operator mode, where an Operator can scan and process documents, and an Administrator can add new document types and index fields, and, if desired, can also scan and process documents. The Administrator's Guide makes a distinction between the tasks that can only be performed by an Administrator and those tasks that can be performed by both Operators and Administrators. The Operator's Guide covers only those tasks that can be performed by Operators. The Help System makes a distinction between the tasks that can only be performed by an Administrator and those tasks that can be performed by both Operators and Administrators. Before You Begin Datacap FastDoc Capture can be installed on Microsoft Windows computers. For specific information on hardware and operating system requirements for FastDoc Capture, see: FastDoc Capture can be installed on a single computer with or without Datacap Taskmaster software, and can easily be installed in a network environment without Taskmaster. If you want to install FastDoc Capture in a Taskmaster client/server environment where different components are installed on different machines, contact Datacap Support before you begin your FastDoc Capture installation. 6 Installation Instructions Prerequisites FastDoc Capture requires Microsoft software that, if it isn't already installed, will be installed automatically during the installation process. Microsoft MSXML 6.0 Parser Datacap software requires the Microsoft MSXML 6.0 Parser and if it isn't already installed, it will be installed automatically during the Datacap software installation process. Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 Datacap software also requires the Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1. If it isn't already installed, it will be installed automatically during the Datacap software installation process. Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Servers and Workstations running Datacap software require Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0, and if it is not already installed, it will be installed automatically during the Datacap software installation process. 7 FastDoc Capture 1.1 Introduction to Installation Instructions are provided for installing FastDoc Capture in two configurations: Install on Standalone Machine (with or without Taskmaster) Install on Network (without Taskmaster) If you want to install FastDoc Capture in a Taskmaster client/server environment where different Taskmaster components are installed on different machines, contact Datacap Support for assistance before you begin your FastDoc Capture installation. WARNING Because FastDoc Capture installs later versions of some of the files used by Taskmaster, if both Taskmaster and FastDoc Capture are to reside on the same machine, the Taskmaster 7.5 SP1 or later software must be installed first, and then you must install FastDoc Capture into the same installation location as Taskmaster. Install on Standalone Machine These instructions are for running the InstallShield Wizard to install Datacap FastDoc Capture on a single computer ("Workstation"), with or without Datacap Taskmaster software already installed. WARNING When both Taskmaster and FastDoc Capture are to reside on the same Workstation, the Taskmaster software must be installed first, and then you must install FastDoc Capture into the same installation location as Taskmaster. For instructions on installing Datacap FastDoc Capture on a network, see Overview of Network Installation 1 Make the installation package available on your network, or insert the FastDoc CD in the Workstation's CD/DVD drive. If the installation process does not start automatically, or if the package is on the network, open Windows Explorer, navigate to and double-click the Setup.exe. If you are installing on Vista or Windows 2008 and UAC is on, the User Account Control window is displayed. Click Allow. The Datacap FastDoc Capture Setup InstallShield Wizard opens. If the Microsoft MSXML 6.0 Parser: Is not yet installed on the Workstation, the window contains a message about this requirement: Click Install. A progress window is displayed and then closes. Is installed, the installation process continues to the next step. The InstallShield Wizard displays a Preparing to Install... window followed by a Windows Installer message box and the InstallShield Wizard Welcome window. 2 Click Next. The License Agreement window opens. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. The Destination Folder window opens with the default installation location (C:\Datacap) displayed. Confidential and Proprietary Information of Datacap Inc. Page 7

8 Installation Instructions IMPORTANT: If you are installing FastDoc Capture on a Workstation on which: Datacap Taskmaster software is currently installed, you must ensure FastDoc is installed to the same Datacap Taskmaster location (typically C:\Datacap). Datacap Taskmaster software is not installed, you can change the installation location if you want to. 3 To change the installation location, click Change, navigate to and/or create a destination folder, then click OK. The Destination Folder window is redisplayed. 4 Click Next. The Ready to Install the Program window is displayed. 5 Click Install. The Installation Wizard displays progress messages and a progress indicator, and when complete, displays the InstallShield Wizard Complete window. 6 Click Finish. The InstallShield Wizard closes. Note: If you are installing on Windows XP SP2 or earlier, you will be prompted to reboot the computer. Install on Network Overview of Network Installation While FastDoc Capture does not use a "server" for managing batches, a "network installation" allows multiple Workstations to share Document Types and a Fingerprint Database that are located in an accessible network location. Installing FastDoc Capture in a network environment where Document Types and the Fingerprint Database are shared involves installing FastDoc Capture on each Workstation and additional setup steps. An overview of the installation and setup steps is provided below. These instructions assume you are installing FastDoc Capture to C:\Datacap on the Workstation. If you install to another location, you must install to the same location on every Workstation, and, when following the remaining setup steps, be sure substitute the correct location for C:\Datacap. Ensure you have met the prerequisites before starting your installation. Prerequisites Ensure your Windows user account has administrator rights on all of the Workstations and the accessible network location ("NetworkLocation") Ensure a domain/windows account exists for each FastDoc user (both Administrators and Operators) Setup Steps 1 Install FastDoc Capture on each Workstation using the same installation location on each. 2 Create and share the Datacap folder (Vista, Windows 2008 or Windows 2000, Windows 2003) on the accessible network location ("NetworkLocation"), and set sharing permissions. 3 Copy the FastDoc folder from one Workstation to the NetworkLocation. 9 FastDoc Capture On the NetworkLocation, set up security on the shared Datacap folder (Vista, Windows 2008 or Windows 2000, Windows 2003). 5 On the NetworkLocation, set up security on the \Datacap\FastDoc folder (Vista, Windows 2008 or Windows 2000, Windows 2003). 6 On the NetworkLocation, make a backup copy of and edit the fastdoc.xml file to reflect the NetworkLocation. 7 On the Workstation, make backup copies of and edit the collection.xml and BatchExplorer.exe.config files to reflect the NetworkLocation and copy the edited collection.xml and BatchExplorer.exe.config files to each Workstation. Install on Workstation These instructions are for running the InstallShield Wizard to install Datacap FastDoc Capture on a single computer ("Workstation") in an environment where multiple Workstations will share Document Types and a Fingerprint Database located in an accessible network location. 1 Make the installation package available on your network, or insert the FastDoc CD in the Workstation's CD/DVD drive. If the installation process does not start automatically, or if the package is on the network, open Windows Explorer, navigate to and double-click the Setup.exe. If you are installing on Vista or Windows 2008 and UAC is on, the User Account Control window is displayed. Click Allow. The Datacap FastDoc Capture Setup InstallShield Wizard opens. 10 Installation Instructions Create Datacap Folder On the accessible network location ("NetworkLocation"), create a folder named \Datacap. If you do not create the folder in the root of the NetworkLocation computer (for example you create it in \\ServerName\Shared\Datacap instead of \\ServerName\Datacap), make a note of the full UNC path to this folder. When following the remaining setup steps, be sure to substitute the correct UNC path for \Datacap folder. Share Datacap Folder and Set Sharing Permissions (Vista, Windows 2008) This procedure provides instructions on how to set up the appropriate sharing permissions for the \Datacap folder when the operating system for the FastDoc Capture NetworkLocation computer is Vista or Windows On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to and rightclick the \Datacap folder and select Properties. The Properties dialog opens with the General tab displayed. 2 Click the Sharing tab to display it, then click Advanced Sharing. When UAC is on, the User Account Control window is displayed. Click Continue. The Advanced Sharing dialog opens. 3 Click Share this Folder and keep Datacap as the Share name. 4 Click Permissions. The Permissions dialog is displayed. 5 Add NETWORK SERVICE and add local IUSR and allow Full Control. 6 Add/ensure Domain/Windows User IDs of FastDoc Capture Administrators and Operators are set to allow Full Control. Share Datacap Folder and Set Sharing Permissions (Windows 2000, Windows 2003) This procedure provides instructions on how to set up the appropriate sharing permissions for the \Datacap folder when the operating system for the FastDoc Capture NetworkLocation computer is Windows 2000 or Windows On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to and right-click the \Datacap folder and select Sharing and Security. The Sharing tab is displayed. 2 Click Share this Folder and keep Datacap as the Share name. 3 Click Permissions. The Permissions dialog is displayed. 4 Add ASP.NET Machine Account (Server\ASPNET) and set to allow Full Control; add Internet Guest Account (Server\IUSR_SERVER) and set to allow Full Control. 5 Add/ensure Domain/Windows User IDs of FastDoc Capture Administrators and Operators are set to allow Full Control. 11 FastDoc Capture 1.1 Copy FastDoc Folder From one of the Workstations on which you have installed FastDoc Capture, copy the C:\Datacap\FastDoc folder to the \Datacap folder you created on the NetworkLocation computer. Set Up Security on Shared Folder (Vista, Windows 2008) This procedure provides instructions on how to set up the appropriate security for the \Datacap folder when the operating system for the FastDoc Capture NetworkLocation computer is Vista or Windows On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to and right-click the \Datacap folder and select Properties. The Properties dialog opens with the General tab displayed. 2 Click the Security tab to display it, then click Edit. When UAC is on, the User Account Control window is displayed. Click Continue. The Permissions dialog opens. 3 Add/ensure Domain/Windows User IDs of FastDoc Capture Administrators and Operators are set to allow Read & Execute. Set Up Security on Shared Folder (Windows 2000, Windows 2003) This procedure provides instructions on how to set up the appropriate security for the \Datacap folder when the operating system for the FastDoc Capture NetworkLocation computer is Windows 2000 or Windows On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to and right-click the \Datacap folder and select Sharing and Security. 12 Installation Instructions Set Up Security on Datacap\FastDoc Folder (Windows 2000, Windows 2003) This procedure provides instructions on how to set up the appropriate security permissions for the \Datacap\FastDoc folder when the operating system for the FastDoc Capture NetworkLocation computer is Windows 2000 or Windows On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to and right-click the \Datacap\FastDoc folder and select Sharing and Security. The Sharing tab is displayed. 2 Click the Security tab to display it. 3 Add ASP.NET Machine Account (Server\ASPNET) and set to allow Full Control; add Internet Guest Account (Server\IUSR_SERVER) and set to allow Full Control. 4 Add Add/ensure Domain/Windows User IDs of FastDoc Capture Administrators and Operators are set to allow Full Control. Edit FastDoc.xml File This procedure provides instructions on backing up and editing the FastDoc.xml file to reflect the location of the Fingerprint Database. 1 On the NetworkLocation computer, start Windows Explorer, and navigate to the \\NetworkLocation\FastDoc\process folder. 2 Make a backup copy of the FastDoc.xml file. 3 Using a text editor like Notepad, open the FastDoc.xml file. 4 Locate and change the fingerprint database connection string to reflect the UNC path of the NetworkLocation. For example, change this: <V n="fingerprintconn">provider=microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;data Source=C:\Datacap\FastDoc\process\FastDocFingerprint.mdb</V> To this: <V n="fingerprintconn">provider=microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;data Source=\\NetworkLocation\Datacap\FastDoc\process\ FastDocFingerprint.mdb</V> 5 Save your changes and close the file. Edit and Copy Collection.xml and BatchExplorer.exe.config Files This procedure provides instructions on backing up and editing the collection.xml and BatchExplorer.exe.config files to reflect the location of the FastDoc \process and \batches folders, and then copying those files to the other Workstations. 1 On the Workstation, start Windows Explorer, and navigate to the C:\Datacap\RRS\Libs\FastDoc folder. 2 Make a backup copy of the collection.xml file. 3 Using a text editor like Notepad, open the collection.xml file. 4 Locate and change the sturl path to reflect the NetworkLocation. For example, change this: sturl="c:\datacap\fastdoc\process\" Page 12 Confidential and Proprietary Information of Datacap Inc.

13 FastDoc Capture 1.1 to this: sturl="\\networklocation\datacap\fastdoc\process\" 5 Save your changes and close the file. 6 Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Datacap\BatchExplorer folder. 7 Make a backup copy of the BatchExplorer.exe.config file. 8 Using a text editor like Notepad, open the BatchExplorer.exe.config file. 9 Locate and change the ScanLocation setting for the \FastDoc\batches folder to reflect the NetworkLocation. For example, locate this: <setting name="scanlocation" then, on the next line, change the path to the batches folder from this: <value>c:\datacap\fastdoc\batches</value> to this: <value>\\networklocation\datacap\fastdoc\batches</value> 10 Save your changes and close the file. 11 Copy the edited versions of the collection.xml and BatchExplorer.exe.config files to each Workstation on which FastDoc Capture has been installed. 14 Installation Instructions Uninstall FastDoc Capture Steps to Uninstall FastDoc Capture If you decide to uninstall FastDoc Capture, be sure to complete all of the following steps: 1. Ensure You Have Datacap Taskmaster Installation Media 2. Ensure All Batches Have Completed 3. Uninstall FastDoc Capture 4. Repair Datacap Taskmaster Software Ensure You Have Datacap Taskmaster Installation Media WARNING Before you begin the uninstall process, if FastDoc Capture was installed on a computer on which Datacap Taskmaster was also installed, you should ensure that you have the installation media for your version of Datacap software. If you do not, DO NOT remove FastDoc Capture, as removing it will damage your Taskmaster installation, and you need the installation media to repair it. Ensure All Batches Have Completed Before you begin the uninstall process, ensure all processing that should be completed has actually completed, then purge and delete all batches as follows: 1. Start FastDoc Capture. 2. On the Batch Mode Selection window, click the Local Batch button, then click OK. The Select a Batch window opens with the count of the existing batches displayed, along with the oldest batches. 3. Click Purge finished batches to remove all processing files associated with batches that were successfully exported. 4. Of the remaining unfinished batches, open any that you are unsure about deleting, and if appropriate, complete batch processing. 5. Select the remaining unfinished batches one at a time and click Delete Selected Batch to delete each one. 6. Open the Document Settings for each Document Type and make a note of the location of the Export to Folder for each. 7. Shut down FastDoc Capture. 8. Open Windows Explorer and delete the folders in the Export to Folders locations. Uninstall FastDoc Capture After you have ensured all batches have completed and have deleted the exported documents, uninstall FastDoc Capture as follows: 1. From your Windows Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window opens. Page 14 Confidential and Proprietary Information of Datacap Inc.

15 FastDoc Capture Scroll down, select Datacap FastDoc Capture and click Remove. You are prompted to confirm that you want to remove FastDoc Capture from your system. 3. Click Yes. The Windows Installer window is briefly displayed, followed by a FastDoc Capture configuration window with a progress bar. The window closes when FastDoc Capture has been removed. 4. Using Windows Explorer, locate and delete any remaining FastDoc folders and files. 5. If FastDoc Capture was installed on a computer on which Datacap Taskmaster was also installed, follow the instructions in Repair Datacap Taskmaster Software. Repair Datacap Taskmaster Software Using the appropriate Datacap Taskmaster installation media, run Setup.exe and select the "Repair" option to reinstall software that was affected by the FastDoc Capture uninstall process.
