1 TAC Vista TAC Xenta 101-2VF Fan Coil Controller with Two Valve Output and Fan On-Off Control TAC Xenta 101-2VF is a zone controller for fan coil applications with a heating and a cool ing stage. The controller keeps a constant temperature in the zone through sequence control of the heating and cooling valves. By using a separate discharge air temperature sensor, the discharge and zone tempera tures can be controlled in cascade. It is also possible to limit the discharge air temperature. The fan is controlled on/off via a 230 V AC or 24 V AC relay output and is nor mally on only when there is a heating or cooling de mand. The controller is a LonMark compliant device that communicates on a LonTalk TP/FT-10 network via a twisted-pair, unpolarized cable. It is able to operate both as a stand-alone unit and as part of a system. All net work variables can be monitored and configured via the TAC Xenta OP, if the OP version is 3.11 or higher. STR 100 is a range of wall modules intended to be used with TAC Xenta 101. There are plug-in terminal blocks available for the TAC Xenta 100 series that can be attached to the existing terminals. 3 Main Functions The function of TAC Xenta 101-2VF is determined by the occupancy mode, the application mode and the node state. When the temperature in crea ses, the heating valve closes (see fig. 2). When there is a cooling de mand, the cooling valve opens. Furthermore, the fan starts at the same time the valve opens, while in some operating modes it runs con stant when others are active (see figures 2 and 3). This sequence is reversed when the temperature drops. Cascade Control If there is a deviation from the temperature setpoint, the controller can assign a temperature setpoint to the discharge air temperature sensor as a function of the control error. The dis charge air temperature is limited. When zone temperature dips below the setpoint, the con troller will use the maximum discharge air temperature; its minimum setting is used when the zone temperature rises above a certain limit. Low Temperature Protection When the zone temperature drops be low 10 C (50 F), the controller goes into heat ing mode in order to ensure low temperature protection in the off and fan only modes (see below). Operating Modes Occupied Mode Occupied mode is used when the zone is occupied. This mode is also the de fault mode after a reset or a power up. The fan is on. Standby Mode The standby mode reduces energy consumption in the zone. In this mode, the neutral zone is larger than that of the occupied mode. Unless there is a heating or cooling demand, the fan is off. Bypass Mode To bypass the centrally set standby mode, press the bypass button on the wall module, upon which the controller switches to occupied mode. When two hours have passed, the controller reverts to standby mode. The fan is on when by pass mode is active. Unoccupied Mode Unoccupied mode is used when the building is unoccupied for a longer period. In this mode, the neutral zone is even larger than that of the standby mode. In slave mode, both the slave and mas ter controllers must be equipped with identical actuators and valves. Fan only Mode Fan only mode is set from the central system using the network variable nvi- ApplicMode (see fig. 4). When this mode is active, the fan runs at full speed. Installation The controller may be mounted on a DIN rail or fastened onto a ceiling or a wall. Two sockets are included to allow for this type of installation. Cables Communication cables: refer to the TAC Xenta Network Guide, part number Other cables: maximum length 30 m (100 ft.), minimum wire size of 0.7 mm² (18 AWG) applies to all other cables and all other equipment. The cables are to be twisted, but not shielded. Configurations Options By changing the network variable nci- AppOptions (see fig. 6), it is possible to achieve different options in TAC Xen ta 101-2VF.
