1 Change of Preference: VTAC Developed by Sandie McKoy, Catholic College Wodonga, Calendar INTRODUCTION This information is for Year 12 students who have applied for TAFE and/or university courses through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Change of Preference (CoP) gives you the chance to add, delete and reorder your preferences. If you receive an offer, you will be offered the course highest on your preference list you are eligible for (you have met the ATAR and selection criteria requirements). It is also the last chance you have to make sure your preference list reflects what you would like to study in the future. When can I apply? Tips and hints You can apply to change your preferences any time between 10.00am Monday 23 November 12.00pm Monday 21 December. You will be able to change your preferences again after the main round of offers on 18 January, but most courses offers are made in this round. How do I apply? You can change your preferences as many times as you like during the CoP period. If you delete certain courses you will not be able to add them into your preference list again (e.g., medicine). 1. Go to 2. Click on Account Login and enter your VTAC ID number and pin. 3. In your VTAC Account, click on the Change Undergraduate Preferences link. Research your options. Go to CoP information sessions at the institutions of your choice. Use the course search link on the VTAC website. New courses: If adding any new courses, make sure you meet the prerequisites and have not missed any important dates to hand in supplementary forms or book interviews. Order correctly: Put in the courses that you really want to get into at the top of your preference list. The ATAR cut-offs won t be determined until January 2016, and could go below the 2015 cut-offs. Plan B: Add in plan B courses as backups in case you don t achieve the ATAR you need. Research TAFE to university pathway courses, foundation and pathway programs at each university and courses with lower ATAR cutoffs, which can provide a possible second year transfer. 4. Change your preferences and click submit.
2 Change of Preference Flowchart Pre results You can reassess your preferences from Monday 23 November via your VTAC account. Receive ATAR and results VCE: December 14, 7am. How to access your results, HSC: December 16, 6am. How to access your resultshttp://bit.ly/1kse39c December 14 December 21 noon: Assess your preferences in light of your results Contact your Career Adviser and set up a meeting for you and your family to discuss your results and preferences. Attend a Change of Preference information day at the institutions you would like to attend. Use the Change of Preference Calendar as a guide for dates and contacts. Contact the institutions you would like to study at for advice. Firm up your preference list by Monday 21 December, noon. Post main round offers Main round offers will be released 2pm 18 January. You can change your preference list between January for second round offers. Ensure you accept any offers you receive in the main round, then delete them from your preference list. If you receive another offer in subsequent rounds and prefer this course, accept it and contact the university or TAFE to cancel the offer/s you have accepted. There are three more offer rounds -
