2 Who should become a Member? CRSA membership is open to qualified health providers in the medical field from around the world. The CRSA primary membership base are general surgeons, medical students (including residents and fellows), and allied health providers. Mission of the Association The missions of the CRSA are: To provide clinical, educational and innovative services in a manner that will support the true mission to help spread robotic techniques in general surgery and its related specialties. To provide the ideal forum to compare and discuss practical aspects of surgery. To build up a web environment that will allow surgeons to share videos, advice and innovative approaches. To facilitate the opportunity to contact colleagues, experts, proctors and trainers. To organize exchanges, stages, case observations, virtual and on site meetings. At all times, to favor multi-institutional programs. To organize, support and standardize educational models and training programs. To support and favor clinical and experimental research, with the intent of expanding the clinical application of robotic surgery.

This invaluable video library is free for all paid members, and is an invaluable knowledge base for both students and advanced practitioners. Clinical Virtual University The Clinical Virtual University is a new online learning opportunity, free to CRSA members, to allow online participation in training courses being transmitted live from some of the leading centers in robotic surgery in the world. Networking Opportunities The association, brings together the world s leading practitioners in the application of robotic surgery in the field of general surgery. Membership is an elite passport to access some of the leading clinician scientists and educators in the field. Educational Opportunities In addition to the video library, online live course transmission, the association assists in facilitating training opportunities for students and surgeons, including advertising fellowship programs, case observations and proctorships. Annual Conference The Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for the surgical community to meet and discuss advances in robotic surgery, and to share clinical experiences. The scientific conference is developed by a world class faculty, and focuses on advanced surgical techniques, and the latest technological innovations. The conference features live surgery, lectures, and didactic sessions.

4 History and Structure of the Association The CRSA was founded in 2009, by Dr. Pier Giulianotti, and a group of 45 leading practitioners in the field of robotic surgery from around the world. The association was founded in response to a lack of education and networking opportunities for general surgeons, and allied health staff. As robotic surgery expands, and greater adoption of surgical techniques in general surgery is more common place, the association will grow to focus on educating the next generation of healthcare providers. Executive Structure Board of Directors The leadership of the association is founded on the election of seven principle directors, elected by the Founding Members. The board consists of the following roles: President, President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Two Past Presidents Executive Members The Executive Members are selected by the Membership Committee and elected by vote of the Board of Directors. The Executive membership base consists of 50 selected members, who have the principal voting rights on association matters The association is founded on the principles of democratic governance, and promotes participation for all members, and clear and open decision making. General Assembly of Members The General Assembly of Members consists of all paid members of the association, and membership is automatically bestowed upon registration. The general members can be elected as officers of the association, and can hold positions within the association, as approved by the Founding Members.
