2 MEDC was founded by the late Prof. Yehia El Batawi in MEDC Director Prof. Salma Fouad Dowara Professor of General Surgery Vice Director Prof. Hala Salah Professor of Pediatrics Mission To contribute to the medical education process in Cairo University and cooperate with other health institutions in the context of creating a scientific environment tooled with the up to date technologies and to provide technical assistance to plan, implement and evaluate medical education and health related activities Objectives Encourage faculty members and students to use available resources for learning and self education. Establishing a principal center for medical training, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population and enhancing the standard of medical graduates. Providing facilities to produce electronic, printed, audio and video materials (media) for medical education and health sciences. Performing research in the field of medical education and health sciences. Organizing conferences, seminars and workshops in the fields of medical training for different specialties. Development of teaching skills and curriculum development skills for faculty members. Provide syllabus and internet access to all students and faculty members. Construction of a comprehensive electronic medical library.

3 Quality Assurance Unit MEDC harbors quality assurance unit in the faculty of medicine and supports this unit with all possible means Biostatistics Unit MEDC Stat is a group of statisticians offering a wide range of data analysis, consultancy in all areas of medical statistics. 4 Video and Photography Unit Scientific educational illustrated films production, surgical procedures integrated in a computer presentation on a CD. Photography unit concerned scientific pictures of cases lesions with panoramic views, post and pre pictures (operative, treatment). Computer Courses Basic computer skills based on the ICDL (International Computer Driving License) modules to the First and Second Year Students and The Postgraduate Physician. CD Production Unit We produce CDs as educational resources with affordable prices for professors, colleagues, students. Medical Journal of Kasr El Aini The journal publishes original research papers after they are accepted. It is published every two months. MEDC Computer Resources Unit The new era of IT in MEDC is its Computer Labs. With their unlimited data resources and wide space for storage easily retrieval of data..

6 Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Unit. EBM unit builds up an educational and administrative infrastructure supportive of evidence based medicine learning and teaching. Also it enhances faculty teaching capacity and implements evidence based medicine in postgraduate medical education. Courses available Basic EBM Advanced EBM Virtual reality for teaching Anatomy of the Upper Limb Our most recent CD production which clearly illustrate the human anatomy of upper limb and demonstrate organ function through virtual reality and interactive learning modules.
