3 Specification An Alcoa Company ISSUE B PAGE 1.01 Introduction - The 1202 zone drained system is tested in accordance with the CWCT recommended methods. - The Kawneer 1202 zone drained system is available in several standard mullion depths to suit individual project requirements. When interlocked with the pressure plate the composite mullion is formed. - The system features zone drainage as a design characteristic where each glazed panel is self drained. - The system has been designed in conjunction with Kawneer s Europea resources in France and Germany where the system also operates successfully. Materials - Manufactured from Kawneer extruded aluminium to BS 1474: 6063TF alloy. - Screws and internal components shall be either stainless steel, cadmium plated steel or other corrosion resistant materials. - Glazing materials shall be EPDM gaskets, with the option of internally framed gasketry. - Thermal break shall be of continuous PVC clip in 16mm, 8.4mm or 3.7mm to suit thermal requirements (specify). Construction - Mullions and transoms consist of an interior structural element and an exterior profiled design element. - Glass panels shall be set into recessed glazing rebates and shall be insulated from the exterior design element so as to provide a definite thermal break. - Provisions to accommodate structural tolerances shall be allowed for. Performance - Structural graphs are provided for winload and deadload limitations. See detail sheets. - Air Permeability BS 6375 Part 1: Air infiltration shall not exceed 1m 3 /h/m when tested to 600N/M 2 (600mm water) in accordance with BS 5368 Part 1. - Watertightness BS 6375 Part 1: 1989 There shall be no gross leakage when tested to 600N/M 2 in accordance with BS 5368 Part 2. - Wind Resistance BS 6375 Part 1: 1989 See charts contained in detail sheets. Structural Movement - No effects of settlement, deflection, expansion or contraction, to which the building under normal circumstances is subjected to, shall be permitted to affect the efficiency, appearance or proper functioning of the glazing system. Glazing - Accomodates glazing options from 4 to 40mm. Reference Documents - ISO 9001: 1994 Quality Assurance System - BS 6375 Part 1: 1989 Classification for weathertightness. - BS 1474: 1987 Wrought aluminium alloys for general engineering purposes - bars, extruded round tubes and sections. - BS 3987: 1984 Anodic oxide coatings for wrought aluminium for external architectural applications (External components only). - BS 6496: 1984 Specification for powder organic coatings to aluminium alloys for external architectural purposes. Finish:- Permacover - Exposed aluminium surfaces can be polyester powder coated in Kawneer Permacover matt, gloss or metallic finishes. - The finished coatings are covered by standard guarantees; 15 year gloss; 25 year matt and metallic* *Guarantees are subject to application and Kawneer acceptance in marine, industrial, swimming pools or other harmful atmospheres. Finish:- Permanodic - Exposed aluminium surfaces can be anodised in Kawneer Permanodic, Permanodic II and Permanodic C finishes. Fabrication and installation - All Kawneer products are fabricated and installed by a network of authorised Kawneer dealers, offering national support at local level. The Kawneer Training Centre provides specific product knowledge training, installer training, registration and certification in accordance with the CWCT (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology).
